I always thought the Amimals had the original version of "House of the Rising Sun" in 1964, but how wrong can you be??????

It turns out that it was written by Georgia Turner and Bert Martin.....

BTW: It was co-written by Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen and originally released on a Patti Smith album, so any covers (like the 10,000 Maniacs) would be of Patti Smith.

I think this one just tacks up to being young and it simply being the first version I heard but Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons as a cover for Nena - 99 luftballoons. I was astonished when one day I was hearing the original and thought wth? Anyway heres a site that lists all the covers done of this song that I found a while back when trying to get to the bottom of this

I always thought "There She Goes" was by Six Pence None the Richer but I that was before I discovered the amazing album by The La's who did the original.
