Hi everyone
I have just ordered the Lavry DA10 which I will receive on next week (01-17-2008). The reason why I ordered it is that there are some posts in the forum saying that Lavry DA10 is very good for ATH-W5000 which I owned.

Right now I can only listen to music from my primary source PC,laptop,or MP3 player(cowon X5L). I have the headphone ATH-W5000. And I also know that I need to look for a decent headphone amp to make W5000 sing. Therefore, I bought the Lavry DA10 for that reason.

I don't use the DAC option of the Lavry because I only want to headphone amp which I can connect to the PC, LAPTOP, MP3 PLAYER.

My question is whether I return ,sell , or keep my brand new Lavry DA10 and buy a decent headphone amp (1.2k down).

Can anyone help me?
If your answer is "yes", can you recommend me the headphone amp
where to buy it , and how i can connect it to the PC, LAPTOP , OR MP3 PLAYER.

Thanks guy

sell and u make an immediate 20% depreciation,

if u can return, you just incur an expense in shipping, which to me is wiser, but also means that new DAC we buy are return goods from u and such.

if i were u, i would keep them, as there is no way u would not incur any losses.

it's not a non quality product, so why not? keep it, dude!

It would be easier if you just get a dedicated headphone amp for your W5000 before getting DA10. However, if you sell DA10, may I know your alternate sources? sound card?

DA10 connects to PC via USB mind you, and has a headphone amp built in ...

Dude, just wait till you receive it, hear it, and then ask questions =]

You'll need a good source as well as a good headphone amp to make the W5000 sing well, and the Lavry DA10 is a decent source.

I think the source is arguably more important in a W5000 system than the amp. Recording quality is also a significant factor.

Try using your PC's optical output with the Lavry DA10. If you need USB, you might try a USB>digital out adapter or consider the Benchmark DAC1 USB instead.

I remember there being a rather extensive thread here.........and the result was there was nothing comparable to the matchup of A.T. HA 5000 amp for the W5000. I'd imagine the thread still - with a little experimentation with wording in the search box.

+1. Exactly my experience too. The W5000 + HA5000 only became really great with a very good source. With an average source the sound was just that, very average

The Yamamoto HA-02 is supposed to go very well with the W5000, as does a Headamp GS1. Heard the Meier Opera and RSA Raptor is a good choice too, also read the Lisa III has good synergy with the W5k
The Yamamoto and Raptor are tube amps though, not sure how you feel about tubes.
Also the HA5000 isnt bad for other headphones but It does really open up the W5ks.

x2 Yamamoto HA02

But I tried W5000 with Graham Slee "Green" solo before, and it was a fine experience

You should consider this amp if you wanted to get SS amp.

x3 the Yamamoto HA-02.

I have not heard the Slee but I respect those that have and their comments are very good for the Graham Slee amp.

Woah !

I'm with MaloS on this, wait till you get the Lavry and have a listen to it before moving on to an amp.

I think the x-fi has a digital out so connecting it to your new DAC shouldn't be a problem.

Goodluck!
