god i LOVE headfi... I ask about $20 headphone and get suggestions to woody them..

if u look at my sig, you will see that I already have nice headphones and amp.

i just wanted to get a pair of closed cans that are not IEMs for subway.

In all seriousness, I think the HD201 are OK but the isolation is only moderate at best. Therefore, I would rather not use that for something as noisy as a subway for fear of destroying my hearing.

You could of course try the isolation mod.

Get some ety's and put some hearing protection cans over 'em (or maybe get some Bose QC2's to put over the ety's, to block out more sound.

Or get some k1000's to put over the ety's and carry a shuffle hooked up to the k1k's playing nothing but kenny G and/or micheal bolton. No one would come near you unless blind and deaf.

Maybe some used Tri-Ports!

Reviving this thread, just out of interest - how would these sound with my sony A818, unamped?

Would it even be worth considering the HD201's without an amp, that's the important question I guess.
