Hey guys! I'm new here, but I'd like to ask for some help. I bought an up4 22 and when testing I noticed that the sound had cuts. I did all the tests of headphones and possible sources and the same problem occurred in all of them. Using Android I saw that it has a v1.3.5 firmware update, mine is on v1.34, but it always fails when installing. I tried with the PC to enter dfu mode, but without success, the device turns off and does not enter dfu and the CSR BlueCore driver does not appear. I am very disappointed with the manufacturer who blamed the problem on the seller and with the seller who will not pay for the freight, that is, the cost of shipping and receiving is greater than the value of the product. I ask for help to try to update this firmware and see if this problem of cutting the audio stops. thanks

When you are updating are you doing so through the Shanling Control app or the Eddict Player app? If you tried one, try the other, it has been a while but I also had issues with one of them the last time I was trying to update, sorry do not recall which one.

Via Eddict Player, I'll try the other one and let you know. thanks

I used the Shanling Controller 1.2.9 and it recognizes that the version of my device UP4 Version (2022) is the 1.3.4 but it presents an update v1.7.8 that is probably from another device, because in the Eddict Player App it presents the v1.3.5. You can't update in either app.

Sorry that did not help, I also do not see a direct download for the UP4 22 to manual install.
No need to apologize, thanks for trying to help. Few people are willing to help. thanks! I got the firmware to update, v1.3.5, but I can't get the up4 (22) to go into dfu mode and recognize the csr blue core driver on the pc.

This first run of UP4 22 can't be updated. The sellers shouldn't be even selling this version anymore.
Unfortunately you have to contact your seller for a replacement unit.

Thank you for your response, but unfortunately it is practically impossible to send the product for exchange, as the shipping and return costs will be almost the price of a new one. I will buy from another brand, as unfortunately I had a bad experience with Shanling, even more so knowing that they have put a device on the market that there is not even the possibility of updating and that do not have the slightest empathy with their consumers, as the only solution they propose is “contact your seller for a replacement unit.”

I caved in and got a up4 2022 but it seems to be stuck in sbc with an iPhone.. any idea how to get it to use AAC because the up4 is only blinking blue, which by the manual means sbc :frowning2:

Well, SBC is blue, AAC is light blue. So it's most likely it's connecting by AAC.

It's hard to judge this difference between blue and light blue, even for me I can judge it only from direct comparison.

Such function was discussed before with our software team, but right now we have no update about it.

Both UP2 and UP4 have same support of BT codecs, so both run at max 24/96 with LDAC or LHDC. There is no BT codec supporting 32bit. And on USB DAC side, they are limited to 16/48. No DSD support at all.

While UP4 have more power than UP2, I don't think I would recommend it to 300 ohm headphones (taking Sennheiser HD600 as the standard example). I don't think such power can be achieved while keeping similar size to current small Bluetooth Receivers. You would need device significantly bigger.
Hello,

First, it's really nice to have a brand responding that way.

I've search broadly but didn't find answers to my questions on that point, but this old message from 2020 is a nice hint and I think you might be able to answer.

I've got the UP4 2022, and it's slightly more power than 'classic not golden UP4'.

Can we assume that the UP4 2022 hasn't enough power and "oomf" to drive a DT-770 in 250 ohms unbalanced?
Thus, that the 80 ohms might be more appropriate?

On paper, with math it could be enough to drive it, but PoV of someone at Shanling or users would be helpful.

(yeah, DT-770 balanced mods exists but we don't take that in consideration, even though I use my HD 598 in balanced output)

(if other users have clues or experiences about that, I'll listen carefully)

(thanks moderators for approving)

Also, off subject, but on Samsung Galaxy Tab S it does say that it is connected in 32 bit 96 kHz with LDAC in dev parameters, but I don't hear difference between that and 24 bit with Tidal in MQA, must be a software (unharming) issue from Samsung.

For UP4 22 unbalanced, we would definitely recommend sticking to easier to drive headphones.
