What app are you using to set the EQ?

I found that on Motorola, if I don't enable the EQ mode it has (DTS something something), there will be heavy disotrtions with most bluetooth dac amps
"Wavelet", it's an app from play store. Wodenful apps, just select your headphone and press auto EQ on, my shp9500 and koss pp will be better 10 times....
But now cannot be used in UP4

Ah, I see, so it is an app that applies an EQ that results in distortion. I would recommend trying to lower the PRE if it has such a function, what you describe sounds like digital clipping, lowering the PRE might help

Just found there is no any 'pre' setting in wavelet... Tried to lower the volume on mobile and higher the volume on UP4 for compensating, but no improvement... So crazy distortion/crapping sound once turned on the auto EQ..

Sad but thank you for your advice anyway..

Linsoul answered by email that they no longer offer the wheel replacement. So I guess I'm sorry ? Or do you have some Aliexpress item to recommend or somewhere I could source it ?
Can you send me into PM screenshot of the email from them? Will check on it.

UP4-22 volume memory
Let's hope I am no gravedigger with this post.

I managed to set the 'volume memory bit'. It is far from feasible but doable.
Wrote Shanling's support with my solution.

Let's get started:

- downloaded the old Shanling Controller App (1.2.9)
- the up4 22 seems to be unsupported (status and instruction page is dead)
- I manually DFUed the up4(22) to up4 firmware
- had to redo the pairing
- after its name changed to up4 controller app recognized it
- set the volume memory bit
- and DFUed to UP4 22 1.3.x

The bit stayed that way. For the usual type of use an almost unbearable procedure.
I'll add the necessary links later.
The UP4's volume not being memorized, would be a deal-breaker to me.

I never even noticed this effect. Usually, this is my gym bluetooth DAC and I always treat it like... Leave it loud, so I am happy the next day when it doesn't blow my ears out because last day I was feeling rather hyped

Support's sincere answer:

"
thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately this function is not available on UP4 22. When our software team was creating the Eddict Player app, they skipped out on this function and not sure if or when it might be added."

For the record: the whole function was skipped, because in the old controller software we were able to change this bit with the MW200, too. At least the MW200 are working with the old controller app without any workarounds,

With a stationary installation it is quite necessary to have it memorize the last set volume. It could also provide convenience with problems like a misbehaving volume knob.

And yes, Eddict is still the better application.
