I’m disappointed that it was marketed incorrectly and I thought I was getting one thing and I wasn’t. If I am not using tidal, I won’t get a full unfold. May I ask who this is? I was talking to someone from Shanling, not someone that feels it’s necessary to put there two cents in and tell me how I should feel about how I spend my money. I like the device. It’s nice for what it is. I think they should get people that can speak English working on the region that’s pretty much all English, America.

You will get full unfold with any app that supports 2x MQA unfolding, for example on Android UAPP.

Just got the UA4 this past weekend, and so far the sound is very good. It's cleaner than either the UA3 or UP5 and let's the sparkly bits of the music shine through just a bit more. Love the display and the fact that (I think) all features are adjustable on the unit itself, or at least the ones I really care about.

Hello everyone, fellow sufferers. I saw the question above about problems with Windows 11, but are there any Windows 7 users here?
For the first time among my pack of DACs (hiby.ibasso, fiio, tempotec, va) -
UA4 with driver "Shanling USB Audio Drivers_setup_WHQL_V2.4.exe" does not work normally,
even after updating to firmware 1.0.3.

The driver adds ASIO to foobar2000, but no matter what is selected in the SACD, DSD is not played, and for flac's with a bitrate greater than 6000kbps, noise or stuttering is output instead of sound.
On the screen, the DAC displays the music settings correctly, Foobar2000 draws a playback histogram, but there is simply no sound or it is terrible!

On Android or Linux DAP (such as Tempotek V3) everything works.

Am I doing something wrong or is this normal for Shanling?

Thanks for trying! I did everything according to the instructions, but it didn’t help, as before there is sound only in the PCM mode in SACD, if you select any option with DSD there - such files and heavy flacs are silent. There's no sound, but hystergram moving.

Try to switch the SACD output mode to DSD only?

When you play DSD, what is displayed on display of UA4?

For the large files, that's something I have never seen, not something I can help with.

Of course, I tested simple DSD in SACD, wrote above that tried all the options, it only works with PCM. If the mode is with DSD, then the UA4 screen correctly displays the type of DSD (DSD128, DSD256, etc.) or the bitrate of large flac's, but there is no sound.

Всем здравствуйте, пишу с обидой наверное даже, купил данный донгл в надежде что он сможет полностью развёртывать и декодировать MQA все 16 раз так как чип ESS ES9069q обладает поддержкой данных возможностей имею коллекцию приобретённую в MQA с данного сайта но больше чем в режиме программного MQA 88.2/96 ни один MQA развернуть не могу, в то время как у приятеля FiiO KA17 и он абсолютно без каких либо проблем развёртывает MQA вплоть до 768. Спрашивается, зачем я тогда покупал этот хлам не умеющий полностью аппаратно развернуть и декодировать а потом и показать мне на дисплее что MQA развёрнут и декодирован полностью в нативные 16x? Это обидно, выбор был между KA17 и Shanling UA4, купил Shanling, но желаемого не получил, если это программная ошибка, исправьте пожалуйста, хотелось бы видеть действительно полные возможности MQA а не только то что программно разворачивают плеера с подпиской MQA Core.

ROON не смог развернуть выше 88.2/96, USB Audio Player Pro тоже не смог развернуть ни разу, Tidal отказался от MQA кодека и проверить в нём тоже нет возможности... Уточните тогда пожалуйста о каких приложениях тогда идёт речь? Если Вы про Eddict Player, так увы, регистрация в нём возможна только в Китае и нигде больше...

I just tested Roon on Windows machine and I see no issues with MQA playback in UA4.

Roon is acting as a core decoder and UA4 then unfolding to 768kHz. (UA4 shows on screen 88.2 and MQA logo, we do not show the 768kHz in any screen).
Please make sure that in Roon you have UA4 set as MQA Rendered only and the "Enable MQA core decoder" is turned On.

For our Eddict player app, it doesn't need registration for anything. But it also isn't MQA core decoder, so not something that would help with this.


Tidal completely eliminated MQA support and with the MQA itself now undergoing some drastic changes, for us MQA is currently defunct format and we will no longer support it (Apart from a small market with MQA-CDs, which are honestly easier to manage than all these random software programs).

It might be better to return to the standard and trusted Hi-Res files if you are interested in above-red-book playback.
