Have you tested it? My device is not working on wireless projection, im on the latest firmware, i have tried my phone and tablet (both on android 12) also my DAP (android 9) nothing works. So frustrating

Yes, we tested it, working fine on our devices.

Only advice from our software team is to either try to restart the function in the EM5 and wait until it shows up in Eddict player app on your phone. or maybe test it on different network.

@Shanling I am very interested in purchasing the EM5 but for me the lack of Gapless playback for local files is a deal breaker (it's important for classic music and operas).
Are you going to work on this problem soon or have you given up on it?
Thank you

Still in works, hoping to have it this year.

so quiet here, how's are the users been so far?
Haha...True, there's a complete silence.
Update from me....these have become my go to player (A lazy man's wish come true).
These power all my cans (including the HD800S), and while i may not be as elated, as i would be with the Desktop Amp-DAC Setup, am still pretty happy with the EM5.
I don't even miss the Eddict player app(now that i don't use it, and am used to the screen view).
The player is a TAD bit slow, whole navigating....hell, it makes up for all the shortcomings, with its musical nature.
So....AM HAPPY 😊

Summer is starting and most of the World is opening post Covid, all the talks about Hi-Fi will be much quitter than what we got used to in past two years.

I had one. It worked perfectly. The app remote worked great. The touchscreen was responsive. I think they did a really nice job of modifying android for just what was needed.

I only used qobuz. I created and added to my playlist from my phone/computer. It was a perfect all-in-one that I used next to my bed and its reasonably priced.

The volume control had this nice feel to it. The unit has a nice weight to it - felt very stable as I was plugging in/out headphones.

The display on the top worked well for touch swipe vs if it was on the front face -- pressing down on the unit vs pushing it.

It had a clean, neutral sound to it. I've also learned that I prefer a warmer, colored sound :) so I've been graviting toward tubes.

I give props to Shanling on creating a unique one of a kind unit. I hope this type of form factor takes off.

I eventually sold it as I decided to go higher-end separates. But no regrets in purchasing it. I do miss it for it's simplicity (all-in-one and UI).

Update from me.

It's... alright. I don't use it as often as I used to.

In terms of sound, I think it sounds great. It powers anything I throw at it with no problems (high impedance or inefficient planar). This is my first Shanling product, so I can't really comment on the "house sound", but I personally like whatever I hear out of this thing.

For me, it's the software where this falls a bit short for me. For context, I'm using this as a standalone player in my living room that's away from my computer. I have a local library of songs (currently on a USB drive plugged into the EM5 because I'm too lazy to get a network solution going for this right now) and I also listen to Tidal. The firmware on the device is fine, but a little clunky. However, the EM5 is physically positioned in such a way that it's not really convenient for me to reach the top screen for navigation. The edict player app for android is pretty bad. I stopped using the screen mirroring function on it awhile ago when a firmware update caused it to stop working with the only reason given being "the app doesn't support Android 12". I didn't really like using the screen mirroring function anyway. I liked that they added SyncLink recently, but even that functionality seems really buggy. The connection to the EM5 is highly unstable and a lot of functionality is missing. For example, the progress bar doesn't seem to update, if the song changes, the display on my phone doesn't update, and I can't seem to do things like play with EQ or add the currently playing song to a playlist (I get a prompt that the functionality is missing or the button is just not responsive). Also, when connecting to the EM5 through SyncLink, my phone gets very hot (sometimes too hot to hold comfortably even though it has a case) and the battery usage goes up dramatically (I can actually see the battery percentage ticking down). I'm not sure if this is a fault of the software or a compatibility issue with my phone or my version of android.

Improvements I'd like to see that would cause me to use the EM5 much more:
  • Improvements to SyncLink. I like using that over screen mirroring since the interface is just overall better.
  • TidalConnect. Let me just use my phone's Tidal app rather than having to use the top screen or screen mirroring on my phone.
  • Roon support. I'm currently not a Roon user because I can't quite justify it. However, I would absolutely get Roon and use this with it all the time if I had the option to.
So overall mixed feelings about this thing after playing with it for about 6 months. Not quite prepared to sell it yet, but if I don't see any of the improvements I listed above and I have the opportunity to upgrade my listening station, that will be the first thing out the door.

The full capacity of the drive is 5TB, but the size of my library is currently about 500GB. There's nothing on the drive except my music library right now.

The process of importing the library from the drive took between 5 and 10 min, though I really just started the process and walked away and came back later. At the 5ish min mark, it wasn't done yet, but it was done at the 10 min mark.

Powering on the EM5 takes about 30 sec and then the external drive becomes available about a min after powering on the device.

The wireless projection must be turn off and then on every time when start EM5. When the wireless projection operated for some time, may be more than 2 hours, there's no response when push the EM5 golden button, either aiming for waking up the screen or wanna to turn off EM5. Anyone experience similar situation? Hopefully there'll be an App to control EM5 instead of wireless projection.
