How about the latest generation of the TI/Burr Brown DACs?

And please, make a better volume knob. Thanks

When you put in cellphone features, sound performances will suffer horribly. That is due to the interferences, parasitic losses and so on…I especially do not want to have a ring tone while I am listening to my music lol

C'mon, we are not in 2002 anymore ...
Notifications can be configured as you like , it's the main advantage of the Android plateform over iOS for example.

they wont update android on older players....this annoys me as they just released M6 Pro 21 and kept that with older CPU and Android 7!
Why not do the same for all 21 editions instead of only your most expensive model.

With Android 10 for the new M9 I’m hoping Shanling will also update their 2020 models with at least Android 9…
Not likely, as our software team doesn't seem to be able to get it working on the older CPU.

What a surprise. Normally you would start with some teasers before unveiling the product. Looks very slick. I like it.
Lets say that the announcement of M9 was bit different than our standard.

why not just make it a 5G phone with camera as well. i would switch to m9 from iphone pro max.
To add to comments from others, just getting it tested and certified to work on all the markets would be way beyond capabilities of Shanling.

Agreed !!! Also seeing about the M30 that does extremely well with Nutube, what will the M9 have ? By far Cayin and AK will offer them on the newer players
No Tubes for M9.

That is a pity. But even if not Android 10, perhaps Android 9 then? That would be much appreciated, especially for your current TOTL M8. :)

Don't count on the M8 getting anywhere. There were all sorts of issues that seemed like the were never getting fixed, and now they're telling you they're outright abandoning the M8 to move onto their new one. I don't know why people give these companies a chance when their loyalty seems to be pretty low. I'm really surprised people are letting themselves get suckered into this nonsense, none of these things are built to last longer than the next year when yet another replacement comes out.

Wow, their flagship M8 is not even a year old and they are already ditching it. In the first place you shouldn’t even use an “older” CPU for the M8 in the late 2020 when your M9 was already in the works then with a “newer” CPU.
Definitely won’t consider buying any Shanling products from now on if this is how they do their product planning…

Yeah, honestly I'm surprised no one else is getting upset here. Like, did you see how they worded it?

"From now on, you can consider M8 to be discontinued."

They just sold you this product last year and telling you they don't care anymore. Why would anyone give this company the time of day at this point? I don't mean to call people to get their pitchforks or anything, but seems like everyone's remaining pretty docile about what essentially is a huge middle finger to anyone who invested in this product.. These things aren't cheap and here the company is outright telling you they won't even continue with firmware updates or anything, you're screwed.

This is signs of not a good company, people.

For people who mention UAPP, do you find it sounds very different when using UAPP compared to other apps? I certainly do.

I know UAPP uses its own audio driver. There's almost a unique "UAPP sound", if that makes sense, but I do feel so when using UAPP on different sources. I think if you are playing through android (other apps) you are using Shanling's implementation of android audio driver which can explain why it sounds different and might be closer to the intended "Shanling house sound".

Interesting.. because the Shanling app on the M8 was so disappointing for lack of gapless and terrible handling of album art I have basically only used UAPP in bit-perfect mode. I’ll have to compare.

I’m guessing that since I only use music from my micro sd card then the M9 is probably not worth it for me..

The AKM fire wiped out their long-term DAC chip supplier in one fell swoop.

Now they have little choice but to revamp their product portfolio. I actually sympathize with them in terms of their predicament.

M8 will not be made anymore. But that has no impact on our software support and firmware updates for it.
As we also support original M6 and M6 Pro with new firmware, after they got discontinued and replaced by their 21 version.
