Yes, it seems to be bypassing the Android driver and diplays the correct sample rate.

No issues with the virtual keyboard on UAPP.

Roon playback does not work.

Seems like some of the issues from M8 is still present in the M9.

When I edit the quick panel, this is how it appears.
Look at the bottom half.

So buggy for a $2800 DAP.

Noted this graphic issue, seems just some spacing issue from the added text.

I reported the Roon issue to software team, but not sure if they are able to test it.

@Shanling - do you have any confidence that these issues will be ironed out? I’m toying with upgrading to the M9 (even after the shambles of an experience I’ve had with the M8 software issues), but I’m struggling at the minute. If only the software could match the Shanling sound

We expect that our software team will be able to fix issues on this new platform bit quicker, but int he beginning there might be some new things to fix due to switch in systems.

Thanks for this. A really good review.

Just to clarify then, whilst the M9 improves on many aspects, creating a more balanced, refined sound (etc), am I right in saying it still shares some of that warm euphoric flavour of the M8 and doesn’t lose that ‘house sound’ completely? Like, it’s still in the same family sound wise, yeah?
Correct. Still musical.

But UAPP is still alright yeah? 😂

Yes, UAPP still works.

But then I didn't pay $2800 to be limited to offline library.

At this price point, I expect all advertised features to work flawlessly. Otherwise, what's the point of upgraded Soc, fancy screen, and higher RAM?

Do I need to pray Shanling will release a timely update everytime there's a new version of streaming app?

Google Play Store Announcement

At current time, latest version of Google Play Store (V28.9.12) is reporting as incompatible with our Android players.

Latest compatible version V28.8.17 can be downloaded from this link: https://apkpure.com/google-play-store/com.android.vending/download/82881710-APK?from=versions/version

If you already have Play Store installed, please do not update the app.

If you are installing it for the first time, please download and install the latest compatible version.

Will keep you updated with any further news.

I just installed the latest version from APKPure... (29.0.14-21) and it is working fine on the M9.

edit: Weird, I could load the app just fine but it didn't put any app icon for me to click on, so when I closed the app it was basically uninstalled.

Can you try the most recent Tidal version, whenever you can. It woudn't load on mine, just as for other people.

It's the Lunar New Year so I doubt we'll see an update anytime soon.
