Any more comparisons between M8 and M9 for those that have had both?

I have it running for just a while. No issues that I can tell thus far. Certainly nothing like the infamous issues with the AK DAPs, especially the Kann Alpha.

It has its charms. As @claud W indicated previously, it is really quite big. It’s about the same size as my iPhone 12 Pro Max. But about 2 1/2 times the thickness. And there is a satisfying heft to it.

For M8 owners, whilst it is early days, the sound signature is not as warm as the M8. Still nice and musical. If I had to compare with something else in the Shanling family that I own, I’d place it nearer the M30 solid state sound signature. Hence, it can and will exist nicely alongside the M8. YMMV but that’s how I see it currently.

There are options to toggle the display, however I haven’t found a way to customise what is displayed. It would be be cool if @Shanling can add some more customisation options in the future:

I notice you also have an SP2000CU. How does the M9 compare in terms of sound quality? I have an SP2000CU and was also considering the M9. TIA.

@Damz87 had commented previously that he did not think the M9 was in any way inferior to the SP2K in terms of SQ. At this stage of burn in, I would agree. Are they complementary, if you are minded to hold on to both? I think so.

I do enjoy the musicality of the M9.

For me M9 is a bit better then SP2K , not by much but I think It has a bigger soundstage,a better bass retrieval, a bit more detail ? but A hair more actually..
and much more power , the thing was close to full Fiio M17‘s power and larger battery life then SP2K on plus Bluetooth both ways and android..

MY M9 works perfectly fine yet!
