MQA is supported in Shanling Music for local files and Tidal for streaming. Not sure how is UAPP currently working with it.
PCM only in UAPP still, unfortunately. Does not recognize M8 as full HW decoder, unfolds much like its non-supported. 1st software unfold to 88.2 or 96.
This is the current link to check UAPP supported devices: https://www.extreamsd.com/index.php/hires-audio-driver

I am planning on selling mine actually if you're interested. I am waiting on receiving another DAP, then making my final decision there, but high chance I am selling the M8
Which DAP are you getting?

DX300. I bought it then returned it because I thought the M8 suited my preferences perfectly based on reviews. After getting the M8 and giving it burn-in time, it didn't really wow me like the DX300 did. Even as a bass head, M8 made me realize I don't really enjoy a primarily warm sound (with few exceptions like IER-Z1R and Meze Empyrean). I have now learned that I really like a warm neutral sound with as much bass as I can possible get (when I want it) without much bleeding into the rest of the frequencies. DX300 doesn't give the bass quantity that I want, but it gives a glorious warm neutral sound that I enjoy.

So now I am rebuying the DX300. Unfortunately DX300 now has a mkii version of the amp so really hoping that it doesn't sound that different from the original amp that I had

What earphones and cable are you using?

These Denon D9200s just arrived after weeks on backorder. I think I am good for a while. Interestingly, while waiting for these to arrive I pimped out some new AKG K702s (bass mod, Dekoni hybrid pads, and balanced cabling) and I'll be damned - the sound signature from the M8 is very similar. Great player. Great cans. Great music!

Just curious; why the Denon D9200?

I don’t like IEMs except in certain circumstances (too fiddly) and my wife hated all the noise from my LCD2s - so I went headphone testing in Zurich recently. Tried a bunch of top-flight cans, both open and closed. And liked the Denons the most. And more than my (now sold) Audezes, to my surprise. Good thing, as they were the least expensive AND closed :) Great build quality. The sound is as spacious as I have experienced in a closed can. They just seem to do everything right.

Good choice!
And damn, could be that M8 is better suited for my new MEST MKII IEMs due to its higher balanced output impedance than other TOTL DAPs giving more bass slam...
I am currently torn between going for M8 or DX300

Balanced and unbalanced <1Ω does not goes better or lower
MEST MKII is the only case I got to know so far getting bassier with higher output impedance which I prefer. E.g Andromeda is the opposite...
And M8 has one of the highest output impedance on the TOTL DAP market in that price segment currently

How much ohm and where did you see it?
@Shanling Can you confirm <2Ω balanced and <1Ω unbalanced?
