@Shanling
At DAC mode, what gain is the M8 fixed to? It sounds too underpowered to be Turbo mode, and i don't see any option to set the gain in DAC mode either.

Is it set for turbo prior to hooking up DAC mode?

Yes, but it doesn't drive as hard when in DAC mode compared to when standalone DAP.

Okay, thought it was just me but I experience the same thing with my Aeon Noire's. In DAP mode I usually need turbo gain at 36-65 volume depending what I'm listening to, but in DAC mode it does seem weaker and I'm putting the volume up higher.

Sonically speaking, how much better is this dap compared to the original M6 Pro?
Sonically speaking, the M8 blows the other DAPS out of the water. I was a HiBy fan. I have 2 R3 Pro Sabers and one R6 Pro and one R6 2020. I studied what the serious IEM guys were using and bought an M8. All I use it for is to play HiRez files. Streaming and other things are better left to an R6.

Yeah, I have the Hiby R5. I like it a lot, but I'm a sucker for the warmer sound that the CL dac chips provide. The M6 Pro is more resolving with greater detailing, smoother and more neutral. I'm just not sure how much better that the M8 can sound. I don't want to drop the money if it's only subtle.

I think it would be worth it...the M8 has a great richness and musicality with great detail layering and depth...excellent bass.

I am looking for some help with getting USB DAC working on M8. When I select USB options I only see charging and file transfer but no DAC. Is there something I am missing here? (obviously)

pull your quick settings down and then click on the Storage icon to switch to USB DAC.

I demo'd the M8 the other day and tried to connect using BT to my S21ULTRA but it kept showing up as phone only and not as a music player. Does anyone have any answers as to why and whether it's a setting on my phone or the player?

The pairing works but just doesn't stream music.
