For the technically inept, can you buy card pre-formatted with FAT32?

I would recommend to format it on computer, soft from SD association should be ideal for this: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/

I did not find a parameter in that tool to format to FAT32.
Luckily I keep old tools and had a tool archived called: FAT32_guiformat.exe
I guess it is the tool "guiformat", that I renamed in order to remember it works for FAT32.
But there are a lot of free tools that do the same. Just google for "FAT32 format SD card" and chose from a source that you trust.
My Windows 10 in the GUI btw. didn't offer me FAT32 in the formating options, so I had to use a tool.
On command line level it works as well, but not everybody likes the 80s look
Here the show how to do it hardcore in Windows: https://kb.iu.edu/d/bccm

So what's the best streaming service to use with the Shanling M8? Is it Tidal? Qobuz? Amazon music hd? Tired of all these subscriptions all over the place lol.
Very subjective. Are you asking for sound quality opinions? Each interface has their issues and niggles. I have used all three and have Qobuz and Tidal now.

Yeah purely based on sound quality - since m8 can do 8x unfolding does Tidal sound better than Qobuz? Thanks.
There is definitely no audible difference. Others will tell differently but nobody can proof the difference when comparing blindly, volume matched. It‘s that easy. When you switch from Service A to Service B, sometimes one or the other sounds better, because it‘s louder. Funny enough for me Apple Music sounds better than Tidal/Qobuz/Amzn HD despite lower Bitrate because it’s louder. As soon as I try to match the volume - all the same 100%

Choose the streaming service you like the most because of good recommendations for your tastes, looks, useablity, features (live lyrics, animations, whatever...) <- these are really the important differentiators.

For those with the Elysium or with other estat iems what gain setting do you use?
I tend to listen at night at lower volumes and so I use low gain and hover around 30 on the volume most of the time. There is the odd album that needs more but mostly this is fine.. I know its said that the estats like power though. Are others using high gain but lower volume or higher volume on lower gain. Excuse my technical ignorance but is there a difference? I'll try to figure it out empirically but I wondered as to others' experiences...

Do I have really bad hearing? I listen on like 70-80 at the bare minimum.. on turbo (high) gain.

Same...but at a maximum (with Ely)...more like ~30-40 with Solaris.

What? I know that lying in bed in the dark with music on tends to focus my listening but 70-80 on turbo? I'll go try that out and see if it blows my ears off...ha..
I have upped the volume at times and definitely get more dynamics obviously... hmm

Er, yeah, I never get past 40 in the higher gain modes. What iem/hp do you pair yours with? Maybe that's why?

I guess I haven't really explored the settings much.. I've been enjoying the sound so much I haven't really felt the need.

Just went and tried a couple things.. On turbo I couldn't really get past about 50-55 without it being uncomfortable and wouldn't listen at that volume..
But being the middle of the day, I would definitely listen at a higher volume than usual..

The most interesting difference though is the tonal balance and character between low/high and turbo. High is just a boosted low but Turbo really increases the bass and treble presence but most noticeably the bass. So much more presence and impact that I forget that this is a BA on the Elysium. It's a bit like the difference between listening SE and Balanced to my ears. I think I'll explore this turbo mode a bit more though at much lower volumes.
I'm not sure if it's just the extra power... Again, my lack of technical knowledge is hampering my understanding.

My M8 is in the house! Sadly, even without any burn-in, my DX220 has been displaced.

I want to thank you all in this thread for sharing your experience, I shipped the Ely off today, just a five-minute listen, but I was also in turbo, 70, the Ely’s hard to drive. I was at 90, amp 8 on high during my week+ with it, she's a beauty!

Y'all listen pretty loud or Ely must be really hard to drive!

I'm always on high gain and even with IER-Z1R (40ohm, 103dB/mW sensitivity), I have not gotten above 30. MEST and Oriolus are more sensitive at around 115dB/mW so I generally stay 10-25 :-)
