Three months I am the owner of m7. I use with fiio fd3 pro headphones. Was very disappointed. Didn't like the sound and lacked bass. weak low frequencies deprived the music of atmosphere. Other people wrote to me that I need to use more expensive headphones. But now there is no way to buy them. I was already ready to sell the player. Yesterday I installed a poweramp equalizer and boosted the bass by 4%. My fd3 sang in a new way. Now I am delighted with the soft, elastic bass. There was an atmosphere and presence. I no longer want to get rid of the player. I love him. Perhaps someone will be useful.

You made a good choice to keep the M7.

There are very few players which will give you vast amounts of bass, because DAPs are designed for many users, some want more bass some less bass. The M7 gives you more bass than most (and I know of no other DAP which gives you more bass). The good thing is that the M7 has great sound quality across the frequency spectrum, so you do not sacrifice anything even with the added bass.

PowerAmp player and equaliser Apps are superb at giving you control over the type of sound you want. Just remember, that with time the sound you like might change and/or you may add to your earphones or headphones, so you are starting with a good quality DAP which you can customise if the type of sound you like changes.

Well said Chris. I would add that there is also such a thing as synergy between the DAP and the iem and this may also have an impact on the sound including the bass response. I would say that the sound signature of the M7 is slightly warm of reference and that suits my music preferences just fine!

I am glad you are enjoying your M7 as much as I am!

Hello, is there a way to limit the % to which the battery charges on the M7? If not, could that be added as a feature? I would like to charge the battery to a maximum of 80% to preserve the battery longevity, as I would like to keep this awesome device for a long time.

This has already been replied to earlier in the thread. This feature is not available/possible on this player. Lets wait for it's successor......................

According to instructions from Tidal, device are to show the default sampling rate of the file from Tidal, not the final 8x or 16x sampling rate after unpacking. On most files that will be 44.1 or 48 kHz. 88.2 can flash for a short moment, before the decoder function is switched from software to M7.

When set correctly, you will have MQA Green or Blue icon on your M7, confirming that M7 works as Decoder & Renderer for MQA files.

To get full MQA from Tidal, make sure that "Use Exclusive Mode", "Force volume" and "Passthrough MQA" are all activated in Tidal app.
That says a lot about Tidal… wanting to hide things. As both would be preferred shown.
