Compatibility of M5s can differ little bit from DAC to DAC, if you cant ell us what DAC you want to use, we might be able to tell you more. Key is for the DAC to be self powered, not relying on power from USB port.

M5s can serve only as Airplay receiver, it can not send music over Airplay to other Airplay receiver.

Thank you for replying.

My DAC / AMP is Questyle CMA600i - desktop, self powered.

Didn't tested this one, but from first look it should work fine with M5s.

Thank you, I've not had any issue with other DAPs with the 600i - now need to make a decision!!!
Th M5s is a mighty fine DAP. It's got plenty of power in both SE and Balanced, the UI is super fast, the battery life is excellent and portability is perfect. I've been really happy with mine and with all the new temptations that have come from Shanling, Cayin and Lotoo, I just couldnt justify the upgrade because 2 years later I'm still perfectly happy with it. I've flown on a single to charge to Africa, Europe and Across Canada with it several times. For stated use it should be perfect.

Thanks, that's good to know. Ideally I'd like a DAP with two micro SD card slots, but it may be more realistic to save up for a 1TB card!!

It will be replacing a very good Questyle QP1R (no native DSD out via optical, small non-touch screen and quirky UI, otherwise it's a fantastic player).

Got my M5s a few weeks ago because I was so impressed with my Q1, generally very happy with it, although 4.0 seems to have introduced a few niggles, from what I've seen the team are aware of them so hopefully will be resolved soon. I got the proper leather case for it as well which is very nice. Using it with my Oppo PM3s and it sounds glorious. Also using with the Sony WH-1000XM4s via LDAC and also sounds very good.

Not sure what to do with the Q1 now, might just sit on my desk at work as a BT bridge!

Just got my M5s, updated to fw 3.7, tried to play DSD via USB out to my DAC/AMP, but there are micro gaps between tracks and also a popping sound (like when the sample rate is different). I have played around with the settings to no avail - my Sony plays the same files perfectly.

Am I doing something wrong or is this how it is with the M5s?

EDIT: Updated to FW 4.0 'Popping' noise has gone, but there is still a micro-gap between DSDS tracks - both via USB out and headphones.

Any suggestions/feedback welcome, thanks.

Please try to switch between DSD output settings, this can sometimes affect the DAC.

Thanks for the feedback, Shanling. I have some 1500x1500 album arts, will they display on the M5S?
Between this and the Cayin N3 Pro to pair with Fiio FA9 IEMs, opinions anyone in terms of sound synergy?

If they are smaller than 1MB and not progressive, they should show up fine.

That's alright then. Does the M5s play DSD natively (64,128,256)? Haven't found clear information.
I'd like to order it in red with the red case to France. It is only for sale in black here. Do you have an official store where I could order it from?
