Shanling M5 ultra Hello, I bought a DAP ShanlingM5Ultra a few days ago and I want to add a few words about what they don't write. Namely: The Asahi Kasei pickup does not disappoint, and the sonic character of the series is impeccable. Just as you like – at this price bows to Shanling, but only through the USB port we will get BITPERFECT 1:1.

Playback from a Micro SD card is degraded by the built-in mixer.

On the other hand, WiFi connectivity is an embarrassment, in 2024 of the production of this DAP, class 4 WiFi, i.e. only N, on both bands: 2.4GHz and 5 GHz, and only with a maximum speed of 150 Megabits, is simply a disaster for people using their own NAS resources. In addition, the WiFi slightly muddies the sound and slightly decreases the dynamics. I will also add that the M5ultra can heat up to 50 degrees on the Celcius scale.

Finally, I will add -- The battery holds well, the display, despite the LCD type, has good viewing angles and mechanically well made. To sum up, in my opinion, it is worth buying, and I still enjoy the sound produced.

The ibasso is neutral souding and the Shanling is thick and on the warm side.
And I might add, having had both, the 180 sound seems to be a bit “thinner” in note weight compared to the Shanling m5ultra. I love my ultra.

I wish you good luck and good fortune. Welcome to the club🙋🏻‍♂️❤️

I'm confused by what you said. Are you saying that the M5 Ultra sounds better as a wired DAC/AMP? I've obviously used the M5 Ultra as a Bluetooth DAC/AMP and was very satisfied, but I don't remember my experience as a wired DAC/AMP.

I would appreciate it if you could tell me in which areas it is better. Let me focus on them while listening.

Finally, which microSD card do you use? Could it have caused a loss in sound because it was too slow?
