Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

I concur. And don't forget the special characters on their stock player as well. When music players from even obscure/independent developers doesn't have this problem, that actually speaks a lot about Shanling's software development team. I mean come on, this player is integrated to the "prime mode" feature of the DAP. If they can't fix their issues with their player, at least give the option to the consumers to select a player that will run with prime mode. It's also not an excuse to have the consumer install 3rd party music player apps just because it can. The Shanling music player app should be up to par given that it carries the DAPs namesake, one would think they'll put more effort in.
and the team telling their employer that something cannot be done when in fact, it should be easy, then they're lying... in Shanling's face. or, it is Shanling that does not want to give the upgrade and putting the blame on the "team"

My new M3X arrived about 3 days ago, and immediately presented strange behavior. After updating the software on the first evening I uploaded a few music files to internal storage. Familiarized myself with it for about half and hour, shut it off, and went to bed. Back to my desk the next morning, and the thing was on, and frozen. Followed the procedure for unfreezing it, rebooted, and no more problems the rest of the day. Next morning, same thing. And the next morning. I followed proper shutdown procedure each time: press and hold power button for 2 seconds, and choose ''Power Off.''
If anyone has a clue I'd sure appreciate it. Otherwise, this sucker gets sent back to the dealer.
THANX

Thanks Rauschkind. Good to know. I emailed Shanling just this morning and will give them a couple of days to reply before I make my next move.
This player met my budgetary needs at the moment. Just can't see myself spending $5oo to $1,000 or more for something I mostly use to avoid local radio stations when I'm running errands or on a road trip. Sorry, but the prices are scary. I'm only willing to put money like that into my DIY home sound system.:relaxed:

i hope you get this sorted out. the original player software is trash, but i really enjoy using the m3x now that i have installed the neutron player.
android 7.1 is very dated of course, but it is good enough to run player and steaming software and at least for me this type of device has just one job.

Are you keeping it on charger overnight? Because that's the only thing I can think of that could do this. There is no default setting/app that would be turning on the M3X automatically.

Did you install any apps?

I'm pretty sure it's just a outsourced contractor. Since whenever good ideas or questions come up here most time "its not possible" or "software team didn't provide us with information". A simple google search could have cleared up that Android 10/Q Snapdragon 430 situation.
The software team was also too lazy to delete the carrier files in the deeper system folders.. on a device without a sim-slot...

Don't get me wrong. The M3X is a great little DAP but the "software team" is just horrible. Shanling should get a proper porgammer - especially if you consider the price of the products. The best hardware is worthless without proper software.

No, I am not keeping it on charger overnight.
No, I have not installed apps, or anything else.
Just to be sure, try factory reset and see if this repeats.

cmon, thats a bit hysterical. yes, the player software is missing a critical feature and thrash. the android version however works flawless and runs extremely efficient, resulting in a very good standby time.
im not even sure if i would upgrade to android 10 if i could, i do not see an advantage.

the player isn't missing a critical feature, it's just a simple feature as gapless that a lot has been requesting, has been requested for years, and it is about the "software team"
