Well, I do not have first hand experience, so I had to rely on search. And this is what I've found:

http://www.diyaudioblog.com/2016/02/headphone-connectors-pins-pinouts-for.html

It's a typo and good thing you asked about it to clarify it  HifiMan, Oppo (PM3 headphones), Plenue S (the only Plenue module, because Plenue 2 and Plenue R use 2.5mm balanced), and GeekOut USB DACs use 3.5mm TRRS balanced. I have all of it, except PS. I'm not aware of any other DAPs with 2.5mm TRRS jack wired other than A&K standard.

Thank you very much for clarification :) Especially that I happen to have Geek Out V2+, so I am really interested in balanced 3.5 mm TRRS too. Which kind of pin-out does it have?

Thanks again!

Though off-topic for M3s discussion, HifiMAN 3.5mm TRRS balanced wiring (LH labs too):

The Fiio X7II uses 2.5mm TRRS balanced as well.

Yes, but just to clarify before we get too much off topic , the original question was about 2.5mm BAL pinout of Shanling M3s since one of the websites (diyaudio...) mentioned incorrectly about 2 different pinouts of 2.5mm TRRS termination. They had a typo for devices that support HifiMAN 3.5mm TRRS balanced pinout, saying it was 2.5mm TRRS balanced instead of 3.5mm. That's how the whole discussion started :)

But indeed, Shanling, just like many others (FiiO, Cayin, theBit, Cowon, iBasso, Aune, L&P, Lotoo, Hiby, Questyle, etc), support A&K 2.5mm TRRS balanced pinout.

oh what... i better becareful choosing a balanced cable.

Nope. Any 2.5mm balanced cable will work. But you said 2.5mm TRS, which is single-ended (AKA NOT-balanced). TRRS is balanced.
