When i used it as bluetooth receiver. Those noise lasted about 1 or 2 minutes before they're gone.

So it starts right away when you get them paired? And when anything starts playing in iPad, does it continue?

Is it possible that the noise lasted while the device was in discoverable mode and stopped once the discoverable mode was off?

Only tried with ipad and youtube app last night. I haven't tried others yet.

When both connected, the noise is on and off when i hit play and stop.

I've had this DAP for about 10 days now and I was just about to give it a singing review...then the scroll wheel broke. Oh well.
My small gripe with the wheel is that it lacks consistency in its response... sometimes one click/turn of the wheel will cause it to jump two steps (either in volume or going up/down a file list) and sometimes it will only advance one step.

Is it just mine or do they all do that?

Also, I'd prefer if the wheel had more thickness to it to allow for better grip, even if that means it would stick out a little bit more.

In agreement with you here. My first impression of the scroll wheel was that it's super sensitive (overly fast). I get one click per line. I wouldn't mind 1 line for every 2 clicks in a future firmware update. On the other hand I find volume adjustment to be too slow.

I think the size of the scroll wheel is ok but when you add the case it becomes a little harder to manipulate. Making it just 1 millimeter longer may have been better (but may degrade the reliability over time).

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can return and exchange?

Anyone else having issues with the scroll wheel? I purchased a M3s but have not had the opportunity to even open it, much less demo it.

My small gripe (big gripe) is that it actually broke! Haha. It pressed in, and never popped back out. I tried to jiggle it to see if it might just release itself, but it did not. I tugged on it upwards (with not much force at all) and the knob popped off. I question it's durability or maybe this is an anomaly? who knows.

No, You are not alone i am having this same issue with specially when i scroll lower its bit loose scrolling then i scroll upwards and i think its manufacturing fault with this device.

I don't know how similar the design of the wheel on the M3S is to that of the original M3, but my wheel came off the M3. I keep it in its leather case inside another Case Logic semi-hard case. One day I opened up the hard case and the wheel was detached. What I found was that the wheel has an inner "sleeve", made of plastic which sits on a metal pin. The problem was that the metal wheel and the plastic sleeve relied only on friction to stay in place. And two smooth surfaces don't have much friction. I was able to use an adhesive to reattach the plastic sleeve to the inside of the wheel and put the wheel back on the device. It functions well now, but I wouldn't pull on the wheel. The sleeve also is mated to the metal pin only by friction. There have been scattered, not a lot, of reports of wheel failure on multiple models of these DAP's.

It would be great to hear from Shanling on whether this is a known issue and how prevalent it is. Also how they will handle customers who experience this problem.

Well I contacted MusicTeck from where I bought it from and they were quick to offer an exchange, so kudos for good customer service. I asked if this was a problem that they had come across often and they stated that it was not. So, hopefully, it was just my unit. I'm going to give the M3s another chance, because it is a great sounding DAP and I basically love everything about it...you know, except for that wheel thingy experience.

Yes, defective Shanling devices must be returned to the seller for replacement. My device was purchased from Lend Me Ur Ears, who no longer is a Shanling dealer, and is an ocean away. Fortunately I was able to to a DIY repair.
