Shanling M2 DAP

  @Shanling I know it's a long long shot; But it is possible to supply the source code and packaging tools for the M2 to check the feasibility of some core UI changes to the firmware?

The current tools to unpack and pack the current firmware can only give the freedom to change UI in terms of changing the themes;
I'm looking for check if it feasible to change the UI to some other extent for example the in the ALBUM search to show the ALBUM artwork next to the name, and so on;

Thanks

Thanks Focalor,

But we should apologize that your suggestion might not be possible. The software is not developed by ourselves, so it is not possible to share open source codes. We beg your understanding.

I'm wondering if there's owner of shanling here from malaysia? If there is maybe someone would be kind enough to let me to audition / listen to the player / dac amp to hear shanling house sound?

I hate to jump the gun without listening first. but the nearest store that carry shanling is LMUE in Singapore.

So I gather the impedance has changed?   Does this have an impact on sound quality?  If a new unit is ordered, will it be the old design from stock or have old units been recalled?

Impedance hasn't changed. Rather, Shanling switched to a more "industry standard" testing method that resulted in a change in how they're reporting impedance. Make sense?

I can give a teaser with the VE package...the M2 is definitely a fine addition to anyone that craves for serious rich details!

Correct, impedance hasn't been changed. Only the standard.

golov17:

GUI is best amongst Ingenic chip DAPs I've tried. Very solid. No bugs or hang-ups. It just works.

Hardware is solid. Admittedly, the scroll wheel is best for right-handed people. If you're right-handed, it's awesome. If you're left-handed, it takes some adaptation.

Sound is very nice for the price range. I prefer it to the FiiO X3 and X5. I like it as much as my Cayin N5, although they're two different sound signatures. M2 is flatter. N5 has added bass punch and treble sparkle. Which I prefer depends on my mood and the gear I'm pairing with.

Shanling M5 is even better with a fuller sound and better separation yet retaining the same great GUI and hardware.

Listening to M2 as an outboard dac as I type this playing files on my Mac Pro with my T-Peos H300 in ears and it is very impressive! I don't feels as though I am missing any of the available sound spectrum and it is fantastic with female vocals and acoustic guitars. Cheers.
