I know that there is a limit of 20,000 songs, but I know that hiby r3 ii is 50,000. I know that the previous product, the r3 series, can also lift the limit of 20,000 songs with custom firmware, but is shanling m1s impossible with firmware?

You know that the Hiby r3 ii has a 50k limit based on experience or speculation? The hardware is what caused the 20k limit and last I checked the Hiby R3 ii has the old x1000 - same as the Shanling Q1, M0 Pro and Hiby R3 Pro Saber.

I saw the information on reddit. I'm not sure because I don't have a hiby device at the moment. It might be the wrong information.

I am having an issue with the newest firmware. I have 17,000+ ALAC files all in 16bit or 24bit. Which I try to go into either the All Songs or Hi Res categories the player freezes for many minutes, but will eventually load the tracks page. The player froze for literally 10 minutes from 2:28pm until 2:38pm after I clicked "All Tracks" until the track list loaded and the player unfroze. This did not use to happen on the previous firmware, the All Tracks and Hi Res categories loaded the tracks list right away. I am using the same micro-SD card as before, and I have factory reset the player and reloaded the library.

Album, Artist, Playlists ect.. all work as expected.

Reported to software team.

Hi, I'm upgrading from an A&K Jr, and I'm wondering how easy battery replacement is on this thing, or if it's even possible.

If you know how to change battery on modern smartphones, on M1s it's easier. But about availability of the replacement battery, you would have to check with Aoshida, they are the exclusive distributor for the M1s.

Our software team does not wish to change this limit for the system performance. Of course, if somebody makes a custom firmware, it might be different.

Which now begs the question why Shanling placed a 20k track limit on the better spec'd M1S? If the reportedly clunky Hiby R3 ii can handle 50k tracks why not the new Shanling device?

If the Shanling M1s has a better hardware the next firmware update should increase the file limit at least to 30 or 40.000.
I am thinking about buying a shanling m1s, only the file limitation keeps me from buying it

Just got my M1S. Excellent DAP!

Wishlist .. I realise some may not be possible or have been mentioned before)...

1. Gapless play for ALL formats please
2. Support for MLP files please. Would love to play 'direct' rips instead of PCM to flac etc. Not that pcm is bad, but still...(and yes, I know DVD-A is considered "dead" but they thought SACD was too ).
3. Bluetooth dropouts from time to time, even in close range...working on this?
4. Screen timeout option jumps from 1 min to 5 min. Maybe a 2 min or 3 min option?

Love this unit so far!

No, still the limit at 20 000 files.

Apparently HiBy's software team found a way to increase the limit to 50,000 tracks by "optimizing the compression" (@Joe Bloggs). Please ask the Shanling software team to investigate this method. If HiBy can get to 50K tracks using the old processor, but Shanling can't while using the next generation processor, it's not a good look for Shanling. Cheers

After the 2.5 update, the device performs very well. Everything I need works. Even on sondpeats air3 deluxe hs headphones. Because before it very often broke the bluetooth connection. Currently it does not break. And as I wanted to sell the device, now I will not give it away for any money. I am waiting for the eventual implementation of an audiobook player for full happiness.
