Shanling M1s - Ideal Compact Portable Player

Could that be a timing or jitter effect?

Or maybe you can alter the DAC so that is performs no re-sampling of this input signal? Some kind of bit-perfect setting? Can your DAC's settings be modified in any way?
As far as I know the DAC is not resampling the signal, it shows DSD64 whether I use DoP or Native in the Shanling's DSD output mode, and no, there's not much I can modified in the DAC.

Thanks for the reply!

If in the end the X1s fails to serve your use case, then take a look at the xDuoo X10T II. It is a fine digital transport-only device. In addition to USB out, you have S/PDIF and AES outputs. It supports DSD over PCM and DSD to PCM conversion modes. And gapless playback is excellent.

Another problem. In "usb storage" mode, the computer does not see the memory card. The card works fine in the device. I can browse files and listen to music. I see the device in device manager as Linux File-Stor Gadget USB Device. But no drive is visible in the system. I'm using a Samsung pro plus 128GB card. The file system is exFat. When I insert the PNY Pro Elite 64GB with exFAT the system recognizes the card and the drive appears in the system. I tested on windows 11 and 10.

Hello.
@Shanling Could you tell please, are there any plans to improve playlists management? I'm trying to use the m1s player as a portable DAC, and it would be great to have the ability to manage playlists on the go without connecting it to the PC to create and edit playlists. The most important features imo would be assign custom names to playlists and rearrange songs in created playlists. Even being able to do this from the Eddict Player would be great.
Thank you very much.

So, to be clear, the issue is just with one card, while the other one shows correctly? Does this card work without issues with standard card readers?

Unlikely to be implemented.

The card is new, taken out of the packaging. Works on two card readers. And on any other device. Works normally in m1s too. Playing songs, scanning, reading works. It does not work only when the cable is connected in windows. I would buy a new sd card but I am not sure if it will work since there is such a problem with the new card.

Few times I saw player having issue with reading the card and it was due to card being fake. Otherwise we are not aware of any other reports of such case, where the M1s would refuse to show the card when connected to computer. As is shown with your other card working fine.

Which device you used to format the card?

I formatted with a Toocki USB 3.0 card reader to exFat. I also formatted in the Xduoo x3 II player. In both cases, the card works the same. It works on the device, not on the cable. It is also not visible in any way with m1s in partition management programs.
Edit. After disconnecting the cable, the card stops working in the m1s. After reboot it works fine. Until the USB cable is plugged in.

Curious case, if you could get a third card to compare, it would be helpful to know how it behaves.

I used some old alfawize 32 GB. Works well. A bit small and slow for me. I ordered Kingston Canvas select plus 128GB from Amazon yesterday. I'll know tomorrow if it works. I hope it works because it's a bit random. The Samsung card was also from the official Amazon distribution and works normally in all devices I have. Just not in m1s.

I would personally never recommend buying cards on Amazon. Always only from dedicated electronics stores or manufacturer e-shops. Amazon had issues with fake cards and I don't trust them enough to be sure they solved it.

I have bought both latest Hiby R3 II and Shanling M1S ( For Similar Price Range and Size ).

My first impression is that it will be perfect if
Hiby's Design ( Easy for holding and control )
Shanling's Tuning ( Although not so warm but I like it )
Ingenic X2000 ( For smoother control )
And better to have higher resolution

I look forward to seeing more compact DAPs in the future.
