Thanks, you know what band eq it has? So I'm guessing US price will be 199.99.

So about $250 to $260 CDN so still not to bad if your estimate is close. The dimensions of the Q1 75 x 62 x 16.5 mm so the M1S is only slightly wider and slightly thinner but still pretty close in size and the screen is slightly larger at 2.8" vs 2.7" with the Q1. Nice to see they went with a higher resolution screen double that of the Q1 (360 x 240). It definitely looks like a more modern DAP vs the retro style Q1and 27 gm's lighter to boot. Other than those front mounted buttons it looks to be a nice upgrade from the Q1.

Yes screen should be much better.

If I get one, I will definitely put it so the buttons are on the bottom and the volume is on the right. I prefer cables coming out of the bottom of the dap anyways.

This looks like a perfect product with features to compete with the Hiby R3 Pro. In terms of dimensions, screen and weight are very close.

Proposal very similar in what both offer... This one has a better processor and 4.4mm output instead of the 2.5mm of Hiby; but the 2022 Hiby version offers a bit more power on balanced - while this a bit more on the 3.5mm in comparison - and the recent R3 has seemingly slightly better battery life on both outputs.

Let's wait for what the Tidal navigation system for this M1s will be like; if it is more efficient and faster than the R3, we will have something interesting to choose in this case.

I would have preferred the wheel on the top right and buttons on the bottom or even better on the right side. I find my A55 so easy to use with all the controls on the right side. This layout will definitely take some getting use to.

Yes. volume at the top right is intuitive, and I do wish they had the buttons on the right side. The A Series controls are really good, yep yep. 😀 I'm still wondering if you can lock those front buttons. Strong competion from R3 saber as another said. That said the faster processor should make things much smoother and tidal respond better. I wonder if it's going to have the warmer Shanling tuning?

Oh BTW, just my opinion, but I don't like the tan? case colour in the picture. Might have looked better with the black model, maybe not lol.

If only it could be used with / run Roon Arc & Qobuz it would be close to perfect for portable use....

The other edge I would give Shanling is on the hardware side as they usually give you really good sound quality for the money. I have never owned a Hiby DAP but I think they are better known for software being a software company initially than hardware vs Shanling's long history in the audio hardware arena.

Hello, I have been viewing this thread for a couple of days now and I just made an account a few days ago.

I would like to get some advice concerning the Sony Nw-A306. I currently have the Hiby R3 Pro Saber 2022 release and I bought on Black friday for $167 Usd plus tax. But I'm having trouble with the device performance especially with my large music library of 15,000 tracks. Majority of my songs are 16bit/24bit Flac with a few MQA albums. But my R3 struggles to even load artist when I click on albums. For instance, for the artist Vicente Fernandez I have over 35 albums but the players takes a minimum of 10 seconds and up to 45 seconds to even load all the albums by this artist. The R3 just freezes and I cant do anything until it loads. I read on forums that Hiby Os 2.0 had some issues so I downgraded to 1.9 but this device still struggles to load albums.

So now, I'm looking into another dap that is more powerful because the Hiby R3 seems underpowered in terms of cpu and ram. I would like to know whether the Sony Nw-A306 japanese version is a worthy upgrade. Also, if this device can handle large music libraries because I don't want to deal with laggy music devices.

I will also note the performance of the Hiby R3 is better in folder view compared to its traditions tabs of albums, artists and all songs. But it takes a lot time to restructure all my music it a folder structure of Artist->Albums/Singles->Individual songs.
