Not playing hi res files on a hi res capable unit seems somewhat akin to putting 87 octane into your new Porsche or Corvette.   Who needs performance when you can save money?

 
People like to compare DAPs to cars. Cars are not DAPs. Any comparisons barely resemble anything remotely related. 
 
You put high octane gas on your Porsche and you can feel/measure the difference in power. Everyone does. Playing high res file don't have the same effect for everyone. Most people who claim they hear a difference fail or can't demonstrate it in a blind test.
 
The negative effects playing high res files adds up and substantial.
 
People will complain they have not enough storage.  Then the battery life is too short. A DAP like the M1 is meant to serve a usage model/priority in terms of DAPs (at least in the current state of technology available) which is ultimate portability/convenience. Everyone has different priorities and many DAPs out there serves each priorities better than the other.
 
We won't be having this discussion if the M1 can play high res files and still manage > 10 hours battery life and > 512GB storage. But that is still far away in the future.

Pretty please could we have an approximate lauch? I'm fed up with my iBasso DX50 and the Hidizs AP60 is already on pre-order (its very tempting but i'm holding for the M1).

M1 would be launched in late September. Our distributors in different districts would gradually have sufficient stock.

So finnally it will not work as a digital transport to connect my Chord Mojo or iFi micro iDSD with a USB OTG cable with the M1 right? Because I understand this sentence that only the M1 itself can be used as USB DAC on phones or computers through OTG functionality.
