Shanling IEMs Discussion/Impressions - March 2024, New ME600 Announced, Five-Driver Hybrid at 329 USD

Usually "Lite" means something simplified to offer a lower price. But Shanling's ME700 Lite is an opposite example: it's a more "audiophiliac" tuned model. More resolution, more neutral signature, more focus on micro-contrast.

I suppose this will be a good match with Shanling DAPs. Will watch video later.

Very interesting experience with ME500 platinum plugged to IT07 stock cable.
I almost decide to sell it until this evening.
With a good cable this iem scale a lot!
I liked very much IT07 cable, can you suggest me a good cable for ME500 platinum?
Tomorrow I’ll try 3.5 KBear pure silver 4 core.

I really enjoy ME500 Platinum with the Shanling EL1 cable. It might be more than you're willing to pay if you're considering the KBEAR one but for me it's bliss.

Did you try others cables?
How EL1 improve ME500P performances?

I haven't tried other cables with it. The EL1 adds some forwardness to the midrange and evens out the treble while at the same time painting a blacker background. Apart from sound refinement, EL1 handles substantially better than the stock cable, especially in regard to tangling.

Yes, Crinnacle posted measurement of ME700 Lite. Fun to play with the comparison tool and find what other IEMs are close to it.

Will see if we get some first impressions or review soon.

Anyone can compare the me80 with the ibasso it01s?

Btw, is there any difference between the black and grey me80?
Both colors sounds the same.

In 2022, we will be launching new line of Shanling IEMs - MG line.

Main concept of MG line are designs based around a single dynamic driver construction. You can expect different drivers with some unique diaphragms, matched with shells made from a wide range of materials and we will be playing around with a few other, less common concepts of IEMs.

Now, let me introduce our first MG model:

Shanling MG600

You might have seen stabilized wood on some high-end custom made IEMs, headphones or speakers. Always looking so unique and so gorgeous. And we decided to bring this special material into standard IEMs. Keeping the look and its wood acoustic characters, but in a form of smaller and easily available IEMs.

Main body of the MG600 is made completely out of a stabilized maple wood, with color tones ranging from deep dark to very light blues, accompanied by yellow or golden veins going through it. Each pair carefully crafted and color matched, yet each of them being wholly unique and not like any other.

With MG600 we are also revealing our new IEM design, with a smaller and rounded design. Combined with the very low weight of the wood, it makes for a pair of extremely comfortable IEMs.

Stay tuned, next week we will bring you more information about its semi-open acoustic design, Driver and cable.

Looks like I'm gonna be the first one here to talk about the upcoming MG600.

So earlier this week, on Monday, I received the MG600 and M7 from @Shanling . I bought them at a reviewer's discount.

Since I have already posted my initial thoughts about the M7 in the respective thread, let's put my impressions regarding MG600 here as well.

Regarding the Form Factor of the MG600, this is the smallest and lightest iem in my collection. However, regarding the sound, it is the Second Biggest in my collection! Talk about Oxymorons!

At the very first listen the first aspect that struck me was how refined the sound was. The notes are quite crisp, not somewhat crisp, and yet so delicately constructed that they never feel edgy. There is no listening discomfort even at high volumes, the notes do not become piercing or harsh at any point of time. Oh, and also, despite being crisp, the notes never feel lacking body, which brings us to the next marvelous aspect: Balance.

I feel, what Shanling has aimed with MG600 is to establish an extreme sense of balance. The balance between reproducing details and retaining musicality. The balance between all the three frequency ranges - Low, Mid, and High. None of those three ever feels more than the other, and yet none of them feels lacking presence at any point of time. However, one might feel that because of this, the macro dynamics will be negatively affected, but that is not the case either. While surely it is not as dynamic sounding as those with a bit boosted bass (Elan, Horizon - from my collection), it certainly does not feel laid back or bland. Nope, it sounds lively and engaging enough that I forgot about my chores and kept listening. This pristine sense of balance is what makes MG600 an impeccably tuned iem.

The third winning aspect of MG600 is how incredibly airy its sound is. Clearly, the semi-open back construction is at play here. The stage is massively wide for a iem, with quite respectable height and depth. The imaging is equally impressive, while of course not as impressive as multi BA or hybrid iems. For eg, from memory I can say that Campfire Audio Andromeda V3 and Audio Hekili had a more impressive three dimensional imaging. But did they have the intoxicating timbre of a Dynamic Driver? Nope, they did not.

Dang, looks like another mini review! Well, good for me, will serve as notes for the actual review.

Nice! How is the low end and is it well suited to POP and rock music?
