From what I have read about identity theft it seems the easiest way of obtaining the needed information is mailboxes. They are always busting rings in my area that were just driving around neighborhoods and stealing mail (credit card applications, bank statements, ect...). There is insurance avilable for identity theft protection and it is pretty cheap from what I have read. I know Travelers sells it. Just saw their commercial the other night.
