Considering my source, this is end game for me (open headphones) and Sony MDR-V6 in the closed department. Big shout out to Jude for his published reviews on both headphones. I used that as a guide.

Spending time comparing the HD650 and HD6XX on my Lake People G109-S has me truly appreciating how terrific this amp is with these cans. I thought they paired well with my Jot and Project Ember but the G109 has become my favourite.

Just got myself a new pad from Dekoni and it really helps opening up more treble spark but after compare them with the new HD6XX, I still feel that the new HD6XX is a tad more resolving.

Just the basic velour pad. I might gonna go for the hybrid next time.

Just joined Massdrop and ordered a pair for myself. I had a set of the HD650s a few years ago and sold them when I left NZ, I really didn't have the best gear to drive them properly and I needed more travel money. THIS time, I have the Magni 3 and Schiit Valhalla 2 with Amperex Orange Globe 6DJ8s tubes to run them with! And, I'd like to do a few of the mods which Jude mentioned to clean up the bass and give it a bit more herb .. so to speak. I simply can't go past that price for such a great bit of kit!

Got the elite velour earpads, way way more comfortable for me than stock. It does change the sound a bit (bit bassier).
