Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

The $ to £ rate is so low at the moment that it is not particularly a bargain to get sent to the UK. Probably end up costing about £220 once shipping, customs, handling and credit card exchange fees are all added.

I wonder if it would be worth it to get a pair of these as an upgrade to my HD600... but I probably wouldn't get anywhere close to $200 if I were to sell my HD600.

Is HD6XX an upgraded version of HD600? I don't think so.

But I see that now they're using matte finish over their old gloss plastic finish which used to break.

I prefer this new matte / satin finish over their original sticky gloss finish.

Matte / satin is much better in every aspect. Gloss is old stuff.

Don't even have to think about this purchase, I'm all in. What a steal. :)

I'm sure that both the HD600/650 will go on sale for $200 on Black Friday. Nice timing!

Yeah, the only sad part of this $200 HDX00 is for those who have HD650's and all of a sudden their value plummets.

Luckily I don't fall in that category.

That is true. Not Massdrop's fault of course, and not that I think they should stop doing this sort of amazing deal, but that is an unfortunate side effect.

EDIT then again, nobody should think of their headphone purchases as any sort of wise investment, with a few rare exceptions (R10, L3000, and other rarities). Buy it, try it, if you don't like it then sell it quickly and move on. Headphones, like all audio gear really, will continue to drop in price as time goes by. Stuff like this just accelerates the process.
