  Check on Ebay.

A used HD800 is now around $500 - $700. There were users selling it for $450 too.
Its retail is now $900 but on Ebay, you can get a like-new / open-box one for about $600-$700...

There is not much to say about buying products for this much money via ebay except, buyer beware. Very few authorized dealers there, so $800 quoted is not really a fair valuation tbh. Now, please show me where used hd800 are going for $500...

Lowest NIB price on ebay shows $899 for me. Not an authorized dealer, so NO warranty.

I'd agree with diminishing returns, but I love my HE-1000, stopped listening (and sold) my 650, don't listen to HE-560, Koss ESP950, others, since I got it. But it isn't better by the multiples that it costs.

They're not on ebay for that price always.. look it up every two three days.

I saw HD800 for $500 twice on Ebay since its price drop.

Okay, I get it. But, my point is that it's not promoting good information to quote prices (from ebay, no warranty, not even currently available) as a general price for a headphone. It spreads misinformation, in fairness.

For those who failed on the Massdrop keep an eye on Amazon’s “warehousedeals”  the HD600s, (one right now at $218), the HD650s and 700s…wouldn’t one really want an actual HD650
wink.gif
for a few dollars more than the HD6XX plus next day delivery if you wish?
We don’t get as many deals with  Amazon’s “warehousedeals”  here in Canada as they do south of the border but I’ve picked up on a few Sennheisers at less than 50% sometimes almost 75%...
all the items were in almost new if not new condition and except for those warehousedeal stickers all over the boxes you can save quite a bit.

There are those who prefer the 600 to the 650; I only had the 650 myself, curious, though...

Probably.......with almost 27,000 new requests on Massdrop.....Sennheiser's better off just dropping their price on the HD650s.......

I agree. If they do enough of these drops to try to satisfy all those requesting, they will screw over dealers who previously bought HD650's to sell for the higher price anyway. Might as well just do a standard price drop to maybe $250-$300.

Also, anyone have any new info on the supposed option to choose a balanced cable? I heard talk about it in the beginning, but I was never able to select one at checkout. Will we choose one later, or was it all just smoke?
