I have some HM5 pads here. Do you think they might work better than the stock pads on my soon to arrive AKG 240 DF?

Taking stock of tonight's Unipolar auctions.
 
One pair of 2000 went for not much more than 30 €, which is a good bargain indeed for someone who already has the required HER 2000 power unit. And hopefully they were had by someone from on here so we can have a right old discussion going about modding them.
 
On the other hand, a pair of 2002 without the HER 2000 went for the slightly upwards price of 80 €. Hopefully the new owner is wont to mod in any case, and can provide measurements as well - CSD would be nice.

Nice condition. Though for the price you can get a 2000, a 2002, and a power unit.
 
In fact, I've seen the 2000 go for less than 20 € when sold without the power unit. Not the cans to overpay on, but rather to get cheap, mod, and laugh at the competition with.

Note that some of these auctions were only selling the 2000; in other words, no power supply. Presumably not all auctions are available online anymore, hence the data are most likely partial.
 
Mean price: 62 € (SD = 36 €, N = 31). Median price: 51 €. Range: 12–170 €.

Nice nice, do you you think the seal of the HM5 pad's is what's improving the sound over the original pads? Since it is pleather, have you tried Beyer velour pads to see if any improvements made or further sound changes? I have a feeling these are similar to my old Stax SR-40's, pleather pads making a big night and day difference in sound especially imaging and treble compared to velour that I also experimented with.
