But in terms of sound quality yhe m50x are in your opinion a step back from the m1 and m2?

No the mx 50 are really good headphones its got great bass and treble your ears will get hot from the pads with long periods of use though....i certainly recommend them....But they are not for portable use thats all..

if the M1 is uncomfortable, you can adjust the sliders so that it rests looser on the head. I do that sometimes and it makes a nice difference.

or you can step up to the M2 and it is much more comfortable

I don't think it changes the response, as long as they're still on your ears. But again, you are going to be blown away by how much more comfortable the M2 is. Cry once the day you pay for it. But put it on, and smile for the next ten years or more

Has anyone else had difficulty nailing down the sound of these headphones? By that I mean, does it favor certain frequency ranges; to what extent and whether at a material detriment to others? I will right about this when I have more time listening with them.

Not really. I think M2 sounds very good with everything I throw at it. Obviously, with horn sections and classical music, it's going to sound more natural and lifelike and clear on an open back phone, but otherwise, I think it does well.

I first thought that these headphones attenuated bass, but then I heard a track with low bass organ that was well reproduced.  The low bass is there it is just that the sound is not weighted towards mid-bass. I also think the mid range is somewhat recessed and resolution is somewhat lacking, but not unduly so with either and it allows longer listening for me. These hps are very good for long listening because of the way they are voiced and because they are extremely comfortable. This is not a bad thing.

I bought it from amazon germany for 142 euros ..The p7 were very good they are just a bit too heavy and not comfortable for my liking plus they are not portable.....the sound is brilliant the bass is a bit prominent but it has this lovely treble...I dont even know why i am selling to be honest....to my ears the momentum is more detailed..

They costed 142 on the german amazon at some point? Damn.... I saw them at 145 but i didnt got them at the time and now they cost 181.... :frowning2:
They are out of stock right now (probably demand was super high due to the low price) so thats maybe why they are more expensive now...

About vs the p7 vs the m1 again.... The bass on the p7 is more in quantity? Tightness and punch? Midrange is more pronounced on the m1? Treble is more pronounced on the p7? Soundstage? Build?

Cheers....
