..any news on availability dates?

Perhaps October is a reasonable expectation at this point..

EISA Awards honor Sennheiser’s MOMENTUM 2 as best headphones

International jury describes the MOMENTUM 2 as being at “the pinnacle of its category and price”

Wedemark, 24 August 2015 – Sennheiser’s MOMENTUM 2 have been honored with the “European Headphones 2015-2016” award by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). The prestigious EISA Awards recognize the leading products in audio, imaging and mobile as chosen by Europe’s leading technology publications. The award will be presented to the winning manufacturers during an award ceremony held at IFA in Berlin.

Sennheiser’s MOMENTUM 2 headphones were recognized by the international EISA jury for their unique combination of uncompromised performance, pure design, and the finest, luxurious materials:

“Sennheiser’s MOMENTUM 2 over‐ear headphone builds on the success of its original MOMENTUM model“, noted the award citation, which also praised the headphones’ key features. “This new version offers larger cups and a foldable headband to make things easier for those using the MOMENTUM on the move. Other niceties include a higher quality in‐line microphone along with detachable cords, while the luxurious fine leather and brushed stainless steel of the original have been retained. Easy to drive and with an impressive bass, the MOMENTUM 2 manages the trick of sounding pleasingly rich yet also highly detailed when the music demands. This puts the MOMENTUM 2 at the pinnacle of its category and price.”

Commenting on the award, Maurice Quarré, Director Business Segments Select & Audiophile at Sennheiser, said: “Being recognized by EISA’s expert jury with this incredibly important award is a true honor. The MOMENTUM 2 sought to build on the achievements of the original, which brought together premium style with uncompromised performance. The EISA Award is a testament to the expertise and unremitting efforts of Sennheiser’s team of engineers and designers who work tirelessly to go further and deliver better. This is the essence of MOMENTUM.”

MOMENTUM 2 – timeless design meets superior audio

The second generation of Sennheiser’s acclaimed MOMENTUM headphones delivers greater comfort, convenience and – for the first time – innovative new wireless models. Powered by the audio specialist’s proprietary transducers, they afford the acclaimed MOMENTUM sound signature – detailed, pure and with a slight bass emphasis. The attention to detail extends into the minimalist design and premium materials. “MOMENTUM never stands still, which is why we took our vision even further with the second generation of our MOMENTUM range – these headphones deliver excellent sound, progressive technology and high-quality materials in a product that is built to last”, said Charles Cha, Product Manager Select at Sennheiser Consumer Electronics.

A friend is visiting London this week and is looking for a pair for Sennheiser Momentum Wireless AE, which I´m guessing will be hard to find in stock as it´s been out of production for a few months now. Does anyone here know where he might get lucky in finding a pair for sale?

Richer Sounds has some in stock. You will need to call them to find out which stores have them. I tried them in the Bromley store a few weeks ago and they sounded excellent.

livesoundwave has a summer 25% off on headphones (momentums included in deal). Got the M2 wired for $262. Amazing deal. Thwarted the purchase of the PM-3 just because of the amazing savings.

Quick question for those in the know:

Will I need a non-mic cable for the M2's if i were to connect it to amps/dacs? The only cable in the box one with a mic/remote.

Why would you need one? I'm listening to the M2s on a FiiO E18 as we speak and it works fine.

Well i know the pm-3s sound different if i use the mic cable on the mac as opposed to the non mic cable. The mic cable does not get as loud. Just want to know if the cables having a mic effect the way they can handle amplification.

I would say, try them out and see for yourself. If you don't like the way they sound, try another cable. I personally don't think one can hear the difference in sound using a different cable (on the Momentums), but YMMV.

On paper, having the inline mic + remote should do nothing but add a few ohms (impedance), but I would not think it would not be enough to hear the difference. If it is plenty loud for you (using an amp), then you shouldn't be concerned about changing cables. Having the inline remote should not change the tone of the sound at all.

On my M1s, I have tried both, and cannot hear a difference in volume level between both cables (the M1s come with both types of cables).

Ebay would probably be the only place right now.

Hey Audiobot,

I just tried to buy the M2 wired on livesoundwave.com and the promo code SUMMER just says, "Coupon doesn't exist or is not applied".   Tried it with both the black & ivory models.  I found another thread here by livesoundwave announcing the promo code and I replied asking about the code + M2 wired.  Hopefully it will work tomorrow!

I followed up with my Sennheiser rep, and simply put, he said they'd have stock by the end of September. This is in line with everything I've been told thus far.

I think any earlier date were people implying the best case scenario of a "late summer" window, and then implying the earliest time of that best case scenario.

edit: I just got a call from them and they will honor my discount, but it was an error to include them in the sale.
