 I use mine straight out of my ipod/iphone. I've never ran them with an amp but have tested them side by side with some higher end full size cans and they are amazing. worth the $ imo

They have 16 ohms impendance, that's super easy to drive. Easy as in, the difference amped/unamped is close to nil.

So is this the ie8, shiny edition? Looks like a cosmetic side-grade. I guess we wait for a press release from Senn for more info. Apparently, they're too busy posting on their Facebook page about the 219s...

Lol unless there were major changes to them they are not worth $400.00. I paid $300.00 for my most recent pair of IE8s on ebay from an Auth Dealer. My first pair was from a non auth dealer and I paid $265 for those. Don't get ripped of guys.

Since you are in poland it may be hard to find them at a better deal which is pretty crappy. I still wouldn't pay that premium for them though although they do sound real nice. Check out ebay for an auth dealer. I won mine though bidding. Bid ended at $300.00.

Geniue IE8 are sold here for something about $300 (depending on the exchange rate). There were also some $250 retailers deals as well. Though I've never been interested in IE8 becuase of sound siganture.

i own the ie8 and just ordered a brainwavz b2 (http://www.head-fi.org/t/540222/brainwavz-b2-impressions-discussion-thread/615), which is basically the same as the fischer audio DBA-02 but seems to have better quality control. 
 
priced at $160 it's approximately half the price of the ie8 and according to the list sounds 'better' than the ie8.
 
i also have to mention that  if you use it outside, the isolation isn't good, atleast not good enough for me sometimes, i can hear the engine of the bus and sometimes annoying people with their music turned up to the "i'm obviously deaf" region.

A little bit about me:
I'm not an audiophile but ever since buying the Sennheiser CX95 - only pair of earphones I ever bought - to try what it was like to use non-standard earphones I have never looked back - I appreciate the difference good earphones make.
I never planned to buy anything after the CX95, but unfortunately I recently misplaced it 

; I am now in search of an upgrade.
I use my earphones to listen to music (mostly mainstream stuff, pop and rock, some moby types, some mogwai, some movie soundtracks, and some lounge?) on my iPhone and watch movies on the PC or on the plane. Occasionally I use earphones for PC games.
 
After googling for a few hours yesterday, I wanted to buy a Sennheiser IE8 (mainly because of the brand), but I realised that they were a little old?
Then I found quite a few good reviews of the Earsonics SM3 (V2) earphones and it seemed that the SM3 is on par at least or perhaps even better than the IE8s (both were in a similar price range - both around USD399 online, the Sennheiser IE8s could be found for even lower prices too).
Plus the SM3s were newer stuff; I like 'future-proofing' all my tech purchases 

 
However, this thread here has totally put my buying plans for the SM3 on hold; if the Sennheiser IE80 is going to be released soon I'm going to have to wait for the comparisons/reviews again.
Anyway these are my questions:

1. Anyone got any idea or a guestimate of when the IE80s will be on sale? (few days/weeks/months time?)
2. Similarly, any guestimates of the price of the IE80s?
3. Understandably no one has tried the IE80s, but what do you think? Would the IE80s be superior to the Earsonics SM3? Should I wait for the IE80s or should I just buy the Earsonics SM3 V2? (I don't mind waiting till the end of the year for buying new earphones (using default iPhone earphones atm) )
4. Hopefully you guys get what I'm trying to get at, all opinions and recommendations will be appreciated.

Yeah but IE8 has so much different signature than DBA or B2 not to mention drivers inside that you simply can't compare them like that.

Thanks for all the replies to how much IE8 was originally priced, it helps me weigh my decisions and plan.
 
And wow, milford, that thread sure is comprehensive, I'll have a look it when I'm free.
 
But somehow my preference for new toys makes still makes me really eager to have a go at the Sennheiser IE 80s when they are released.
 
Hopefully the people at Head-Fi will have a review of it by then

Not to mention that is just his opinion as he loves treble happy headphones. I for one don't like too much treble as it can be sibilant and irritating. But for the price the DBA02 are a good deal. Not neccesarily better than the IE8s. If that was the case it would have sold way better than the IE8s have . A closer comparison would be the Sony EX series to the DBA and they trounce the DBA in every area, including treble quality.
