Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

That isn't to dismiss the IE800 outright though, that prize goes to the Sony MDR-EX1000, no redeeming features whatsoever for the original outlay...

Just goes to show how we all hear differently, 'cause it made me fetch my IE800 and EX1000, and while treble isn't particularly even on both IEMs, the IE800 are noticeably more v-shaped and off-timbre overall in my book.

I found the ie 800 better than shure 846 and akg 3003, but that is my taste which will differ with everyone. So I find the price between all three justifiable if they are competiting at the same level.

Whether it is justifiable for an audio gear is an entirely different story.

True, I wonder if it is all to do with fit, but the MDR-EX650 shows the treble up on the EX1000 quite obviously to these ears (to be fair, the EX650 have a much more traditional fit) - agreed though, that the IE800 is V shaped, very shouty.

That may well be, as I still have to use my diy "megaphone" tips on the EX1000. Simply can't get a reliable fit with regular tips. The IE800 are a much easier fit for me.

These megaphone tips looks weird, how does other tips help with fit?

What makes you doubt the authenticity?

Very different packaging to my own, I'll grant you that, but look authentic enough to me with the serial number etc.

That in itself should be an easy thing to check?!

No. There is no way to check for authenticity besides sending them to Sennheiser HQ in Austria, and this takes at least a week. There are codes that check authentic in all tests but fail when Sennheiser testes them directly.

I understood that all fakes sound very nice, so if I could get a pair of fakes for very cheap, (considering that I already have an original directly from Sennheiser) and if fakes sound very nice, I would not exactly mind having a fake spare to use outside of the house.

For that price, I *think* I would buy even under the risk of them being fakes. I just have to find out how much do fakes costs usually.

I forgotten to point that that was the anomaly.

Ie800 goes for around 700$ new, and lowest I seen is 400$ used. If they are cheaper, it is just strange.
