Sennheiser IE300 Review & Measurements

We were hoping for some questions about the 7mm transducer inside. Think of it as a platform for which so many possibilities and sound profiles are possible. The X3R tech is the overarching story here, as sound quality in ANY headphone/earphone/speaker is so much more than just the driver by itself. Come on over to the official thread for availability and some cool demonstrations of the internals:

Cheers!

Yep, I found the thread right after I wrote my piece. I'll take it over to that thread for questions and leave this for the IE300. Thanks.

imagine your Car only accept proprietary tires... yeah it's a hard pass until aftermarket or alternative cables are wildly available or easily obtainable.
And that's your choice.

At least the way is open to interchangeable cables, instead of permanently attached. Sennheiser made sure that the connection would be solid and the stock cable would last a long, long time.

Since market research and survey statistics showed that most users do not like to buy additional cables, Sennheiser opted for a design that would be very durable with the Para-aramid material, but also lightweight and covered with a smooth surface. A cloth covered cable would not do, because that would be more scratchy and microphonic. A less durable internal construction would be more prone to kinks and fraying. So, Sennheiser took a moderate approach, with prioritization on longevity.

The connector is not proprietary however, and you are welcome to make your own cable.

Sennheiser sold to Phonak/Sonova. Should be interesting should they decide to produce a hybrid combining their tech?

They used to have a pretty good consumer line of products of their own! I only found out about their Phonak Audéo line towards the end of production, though. Both companies are bringing good DNA and knowledge to the table!

Wont stop me from hoarding as much pre Sonova Sennheiser as I possibly can. Need to buy a few more Sennies and I'm set for life.
Models do come and go, but I like the direction they’ve been going with the HD 560S, IE 300 and IE 900 🤷‍♂️ I would take an HD 560S over an HD 598, personally. But maybe I’m more relaxed because I have a pretty big collection already 😅

I did PEQ my IE300 to the IE900 target curve with the help of crinacles measurments.
It is indeed a nice refinement. It's more balanced while not being too far off. Especially helps some occasional splashyness in the treble.

Having read other stories of the same nature with these I have lost all confidence in them. Not sure I'll get replacements although the bass extension and speed over the IE100 Pro's is nice and the mid/treble is more creamy. They are also a tad smaller but possibly too small, the IE 100 Pro's are a perfect size. Overall the performance and overall value over the IE 100's just isn't there for me.

I had that same problem, the left channel failed after a month of light use. I really liked how these IEMs sound, but now I think its better to wait and see how prevalent this defect is. So far I've only seen two reviews on Amazon mentioning the left side failing, but I have no idea if its a cable issue or if its an issue with the left channel.

Yeah, it could be the cable as mine was very "free", very easy to swivel about and didn't fill me with confidence. All other MMCX cables/iem's I've had have had a proper positive fitment, and thst includes the IE100 Pro's. The IE300 cable may be making a poor connection.

Going by the encapsulated design of the driver to the connector on the IEM I would be surprised it it were that causing the problem so most probably the cable fitment.

Oh no! We're sorry to hear you two were having some connector issues. If you or anyone else would like their IE 300 fixed, please make use of our 2-year warranty:
