Hey guys, I currently use HD800 with a HDVD800 and a multibit gungnir.
Would I get more of an upgrade if I switched HDVD800 for another amp, or HD800 for HD800s?
I cannot do both.

Depends on your preference and the music you enjoy. If you're having issues with peaks, tonality or bass from your HD800 and want a more linear response, then it's probably a bad idea to throw different amps in your setup to try to "fix" them.

If you're in love with your HD800 without any reservations, then sure, go and upgrade your amp to try and improve it that extra bit.
What you have though, is pretty high end. The HDVD800 was made to match it, so if you're not completely satisfied with ýour setup, i'd say you should look at headphones first.

I switch it to tube with the Ifi Ican pro and the sound is amazing.

The iCan Pro sounds like it is a stunningly good sounding amplifier. very nice I'm sure with the 800S.

So far an amazing little amp that I'm really enjoying. Kind of a "jack of all trades" that plays well with a host of different HP's... I'm happy with my purchase.

I bought HD800S several weeks ago. I am pritty happy with the sound quality that I am getting out of them. Great Clarity is a first attribute that drops on my mind. Second might be neutrality connected with reality of reproduction.

But now I started dreaming about tube amp for them. Having heard HD800 with EAR HP-4, I know what these cans are capable of (I believe that HD800S would perform even better).

I recently upgraded my Pre-Amplifier/DAC to a Benchmark DAC3 HGC.  For the times when I can listen to my amplifier and speakers the unit is an amazing pre-amplifier.  Many other times I listen to my HD800S through the built in headphone amplifier.  It is very good, but most importantly I want to comment on the new ESS DAC chip.  I have had nine different DACs in my house over the past 15 months, trying to get the one that I can truly live with.  The new ESS9028PRO chip is beyond amazing.  There is such a huge difference that it is almost beyond description.  By the way I replace a Benchmark DAC2 HGC with the DAC3 HGC.  The only real difference in the units is the updated DAC.  Wow, what a difference in sound quality though!

Mate, that is going to be one badass system! I think you can stop, you have reached the top of the mountain and can now gaze down into the beautiful vista below. Congratulations by the way, I would love to have that rig.
