Hoping to get a pair in a couple months. Have people stopped posting frequency charts? I remember posting charts for two HD 800 headphones I had -- currently between headphones, but not in a good way.

Do you have black connectors on both cables?

Nope, black 6.35mm connector and silver XLR connector. Serial number 03956.
Edit: Was told by the retailer that Sennheiser ran out of black connectors due to the high demand for HD800S

I got black for both. TBH, if I get any silver cable, I'll return them immediately.
Just sharing - don't underestimate EQ'ing your HD 800S's. Using the high quality EQ feature in Sonic Amarra, I pumped up 29Hz and 63Hz by about 5.5 db (and lowered volume by 6 avoid distortion), and now it almost made them basshead cans!
If you're used to an even thicker presentation, you might give it a try. I'm quite happy with what the HD800S is capable of since along with a nice thick bass kick, I also have a much more clear presentation along the mids and highs and wider soundstage than typically darker signature headphones would even come close to having.
In other words, damn, these thing scale so well!
Edit: Sorry, I meant to post this in the impressions thread.

Hi Guys!
Does anyone tried here pairing the HD 800 S with Burson Audio or Violectric?
Thank you.

HD800S really shines with Violectric V281, especially with balanced output. Huge soundstage, great positioning, nearly no fatigue. This is the solid-state amp that I like most with the HD800S.
