Just got the HD800S (made in Germany, 2018ish, from the first owner). They look brand new. I'm so happy to be reunited with the HD800 (had the non-s version and sold). As more as time passes the more I admire and appreciate what Sennheiser have accomplished with this headphone.

The HD800s has slightly more bass IMO. I think the HD800s is exactly what you want, a bit more bass and way more soundstage than the 600.

Anyone knows how these compare to the Sennheiser HD700. Not looking "paper" reviews, but to those that have experience both the HD700 and HD800.

BTW, I had the HD700. Just paired them with a Black Dragon cable from Moon Audio. Running them off a Teac UD-503 DAC as posted here.

Thanks.

Not that the HD700 is horrible by any means, but I never understood the flavor.

I'd take almost any other Sennheiser over it, for one reason or another.

Have you actually heard the HD700? And not just the "I listened to them in a store."
As with most headphones these days, I've owned them.
I don't have a store to demo anything, so I blind purchase everything at a whim.

Keyword being owned, I sold them after a month or so, and haven't owned them for many years now.

Currently own the 800 SDR and considering selling that, among many other headphones.

Well, I don't collect headphones and currently only own 3 pairs - Sennheiser H700s, and pair of Audio Technica MX-50x, and my portable wireless Bose NC 700. The only headphones I listen at home are the senns. The Bose are for when I travel.

But thanks for the post.

The HD700 was my top headphone at the time the HD800S first came out. Even though the HD700 was widely hated on headfi, I really liked it. Once I heard the 800S I preferred it to the HD700 across the board. IMO the HD800S is just better in all areas.

Is it possible to purchase a new unit from Sennheiser in late 2022 with a SN37261 and made in Germany?

@ericpalonen Would be great if you can confirm! Thanks a bunch.

Yes, and there are serial numbers are higher than that made in Germany.
