My only worry six months in is when I change cables. It’s so stiff to get out and I worry I’ll break things. Otherwise perfect sound with light, strong and attractive build quality.

I love my HD800 and wanted another pair. Tried the HD800S and like them as well.
a bit more "polite" than the 800
At their respective price points, they are great cans and a perfect match for my system

You can actually drop the HD800S and all good; try that with Audeze, Hifiman or ZMF…too precious.

Listening to Shortest Way 51+, a simple single ended triode amp, w/ Tungsram tubes and a 1k serial number HD800 tonight - great pairing.

Here is an amp designed for the Sennheisers. Denafrips Artemis.
Following from the agents:
"The Artemis is a unity gain headphone amp. It's tuned to drive Sennheiser HD600/650/800 headphones."

Curious if anyone else who has had their cable deteriorate figure out how to reuse the connectors, believe the ones at the headset are screwed together and looks like the XLR has an U ring but still no luck with either. : ( hhhhmmmm???It really is too sad that some are having their stock cables fail prematurely, with the majority the rubber is decomposing....most likely from the interaction with natural body oils.
........
Picked up a Fog City balanced cable for the HD800S which works great but wanting to a do DIY balanced for the HD660s or maybe just shorten the defective cable.

Sold my HD800 a year ago and like a long lost love, I still thought about them often. Got lucky and found a NOS pair which I couldn’t resist.
Even though my Utopia does everything better (except soundstage) there’s something special about the HD800 spaciousness and I could never quite enjoy jazz the same way without them. I tried to get by with Utopia for jazz but found myself listening to less of the genre I really enjoy.
With Utopia, you’re on stage with Frank and Miles, it’s precise and intense. With HD800 you’re a few rows back taking in the performance. I don’t care if the stage is embellished, for some genres it just works better.
There…I’ve confessed.

I have the Akg K702 Anniversary and they are used exclusively for gaming. I have one of the crazy Sonic carriers as a speaker when not using headphones.
How much of an upgrade would these be for gaming compared to the AKG's?
Really tempted between these and the 1990 Berry. However, I am really happy with what I'm using as they are so lightweight so I thought it was worth asking.
Thanks!

So currently I own a set of HD660s. Really like these headphones the 660s. I'm considering upgrading to the HD800s in 2023. Should I be aware of anything like Sennheiser coming out with a new 800-series model soon or possibly anything with their corporate sale in regards to picking up a set of HD800s? Thanks.
