Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

I'm thinking of buying the Violectric V280 or V281 and use it in balanced mode with the HD 800S.

What DAC would you recommend? Maybe the Massdrop x Grace Design Standard DAC Balanced or something better?

Sorry for interfearing but try to listen to a Chord Qutest or maybe even better, depents on your budget very much 🥴
With a good interlink I’ve noticed details, even instruments which I never heard with for example a V850.
Save ‘some’ more money and forget the Violectric amps and buy a Chord Dave.
This with a HD800s is my dream combo, with the Utopia it is close to Heaven !

You would have thought Sennheiser would have tuned their headphones for their own matching HDVD amps.
True but the HDVD is not an all rounder for all their cans and is not that popular.

Just got myself a Burson Soloist 3XP and the synergy with the Chord Qutest and my HD800S (balanced XLR) is amazing. Very musical.
The Soloist is amazing for it's price IMO

how's the HD800S with the bottlehead crack? I actually got myself a crack and a Aune x8 magic dac with burson vivid op amps.. I must say the soundstage of the HD800S disappeared when I connected it to the crack.. the vocals are a lot more emphasized though..

If there’s only so much soundstage you can fit in your crack, that’s probably a good thing. Happy Friday all! :)

Just got these, and wow, the soundstage is something I've never really experienced.

I don't know if it's just me but I'm definitely finding them a little bit fatiguing after a few hours though...
You are right. For some people it can be fatiguing after few hours. I love the headphones and have been in my collection for several years but not for any type of music.
