Not surprisingly, my new pair have a tighter fit than used pairs that I've tried. Still might not be your problem. I seem to remember reading that you can carefully bend the headband to tighten the fit. But you'd want to do your own research on that.

I use a head band across the top as a suspension fit - both more comfortable and keeping the drivers closer to my ears. I get a slightly better bass response this way. Hope this helps.

Would you post a photo of this ? Sounds novel.

So the added band goes over the top of your head, not around it?

I think we need a shot of you wearing it to clarify 😃

Yes over the top of the head.

I think I am adjusting to the stock fit. My biggest concern was the lack of seal and the gap left on both sides. But I'm convinced that, oddly, this is not having an adverse effect on sound quality, so all is good.

I'm motoring through my favourite jazz albums & finding something new in every one. The detail these extract is astonishing😁

I had a full beard yesterday... partner asked why I had gone goatee...dare not tell her that it might be hd800s related 😄she thinks I'm nuts already.

I don't think "I need a seal" would be welcomed 😁

I have been exclusively listening to the hd800s' since I got them, about 3 weeks.

I, momentarily, listed these in classifieds. I have been struggling with a hot spot in the middle centre that was gnawing away at me. I have a big head, so, only 1 click off max extension. Ultimately Im ok with some discomfort, give the fantastic sound quality.

Tried the zmf co-pilot pad & when it would stay velcro-ed up, it didn't offer much relief so had to return this to the supplier. Last resort, I hit upon the idea of removing the original pads & botching on the pad from an old set of Philips shp9500's. Taped up the middle to avoid new sore patch on my head. Not perfect, but the best I can come up with. Maybe if I make the string black, they will look better ?

From the photos above, do I need to replace these pads?

Does anyone have a comparison photo of used vs new pads?

As this is the only hd800s I have owned, I don't know whether these need replacing or not ?

The price of Sennheiser HD800s in Singapore and Australia has increased a lot. I mean in Australia about many months ago I checked the price of a Sennheiser HD800s was about $2k but now up to $3k. That is a lot of money for the price right? I always wants to buy a HD800s to enjoy musics, games, movies but now the hope of buying one must be a little far away lol.

To be honest, I don't understand the big fluctuations of price of this headphone. In Greece (and Europe generally) during the last two years it has increased from about €1.250 to €1.800 for some months and recently it was at € 1.480 or lower maybe. It seems that the HD-6## series fluctuates much too. I don't know if this is caused by a @Sennheiser policy or it is entirely on local dealers' decision.

Just buy used for like $800-900ish and change the pads. There are enough units out there that you can always find someone selling their 800S.
