Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

I’m worried the cable connection to the HD800S can be stiff and not stand up to many changes over time.

I’m not going to be cable rolling, but do want to use different cables for different devices because they have different connectors. Does anyone change cable frequently, or maybe a couple of times a week?

What are your experiences could this reduce the lifetime of the headphones?

I choose a cable for a hp. Hd800S has prion 4 in my case. its A roulette wheel for connector types to actually be the same, but I wouldn’t want to remove and connect hd800S all the time, or say 2 pin iem as well as an obvious ex, chances of bending connectors. But I’m sure some are more solid than others.

Actually siltech is soft as silk. The most flexible aftermarket cable I have experienced with HD800s

Connectors are soft as silk? Or the cable?

I may have to get different headphones for other equipment then if they are that fragile. I have two amps with SE connectors and the HD800S came with one cable for that and one cable with a balanced connector which I use on my main daytime working set-up I use most of the time. I’d like to change them over maybe once a day or maybe just at the weekend.

For me, a spark plug boot puller made 800 cable removal a breeze. Pulls straight out with ease. No fear of damage.

Does it improve sound quality?

The sonic presentation of this tool was pristine.
I’ve heard silver rivets in the join and leather grips open the thing up.

HD800S Aliexpress pad change and original pads washing. :smile_phones:

The Aliexpress pads were so cheap I couldnt resist :)

Google album

After washing, the now 3-year-old factory pads looked surprisingly good. They are a little more flattened than the ones from Aliexpress, maybe this gives it a slightly different sound, because the drivers are further away from the ear. Maybe the Chinese ones will also become slightly thinner, resulting in identical sound as the original.

It feels a little cheaper when it's on your head tough, maybe I'll put the factory pads back on.

Hi, could anyone suggest a good headband replacement for 800s? I can’t seem to find a genuine OEM headband and I’m just not sure which aftermarket one isn’t junk. Thank you.
