I'm actually in love with the sound signature of the HD800S and I wonder if you can suggest me an IEM equivalent of it. Which IEMs can you suggest me? What do you think about the Campfire Audio Ara or Solaris?
I don't know if that's possible at this level of headphone.

That looks good. How did you attach both ends of the pilot strap?
I don’t, I just squeeze it together hard as I can and let it be. The 800 been so light it won’t deform the inside foam of the pad. Mine has almost 2 years and still looks and feels great.

I can understand that, but something that has the a similar sound signature?
There are dozens of iem's that have similar frequency responses, but none of them will sound like the HD800. That's just not how it works.

So I got myself an HD800S. Sound is very good from either my Jot 2 or Feliks Audio Echo. However they are not overly comfortable to wear. Looking at some Dekoni pads to improve that. Has anyone else here used Dekoni pads on the HD800S? If so which ones?
Many owners have described them as very comfortable with minimal clamping, but have complained the light clamping allows them to shift around (or fall off with too much head bobbing and foot stomping :scream:). For serious bobbing and stomping, 600 series is great.

HD800S sounding amazing through my setup (Soekris 1421 DAC -> Gustard P26 with Burson Vivid opamps -> THX 789 -> 800S with 4-pin XLR connector)
If I didn't try my tube amp (which was sent off for modifications a day later) I would not have guessed the soundstage could improve. It can, but right now it's not a pressing issue and the 789 is so much more detailed in the upper registers.

The Burson opamps from the preamp add just a touch of bass slam and warmth, sounds amazingly detailed and clear but also slamming with A Tribe Called Quest playing just before.

Okay. I have not tried velour pads from Dekoni but stock Sennheiser pads are velour right? I don't have an issue with the material.

Hmm okay. Interesting. Clearly not made for the 800S but whatever works for you. I have seen other headband covers on Amazon. Perhaps I'll try one of those. I have the ZMF Pilot Pad for my Aeolus. Works great and is comfortable. But Zach really needs to upgrade the velcro on those pads. They barely stay together.
The original pads are microfibre. Whether velour is the same I don’t know.

So how did you find the fenestrated sheepskin in terms of sound? Is there a noticeable change compared with the stock pads?

Dekoni hybrid look to be the most popular (at least on dekoni's website). Anyone tried those?
