Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Seems quite hard to fins available though at least here in Italy before the end of Cecember. The Fiio K5 pro suggested by ics seems very interesting too, more than ifi zen Dac. But I dunno if K5 can accept balanced cable

Dunno at this point
It doesnt and u dont need it , k5 pro has.more power on SE vs the Zen balanced 4.4 ... But both of them are great for HD660s and have power .

I haven't tried, but I would guess not. My Sundara's are my hardest to drive headphones (DT880's are not with me and sold the HD600's last night).

I tried my ZX300 with my Elex's out of 3.5mm. It was Not a good match.

You will likely be well into high gain. My Sundara's and Elex's are Amazing out of my Liquid Platinum.
Exactly same happens to me Sundara are the hardest to sound good with body on sound.
I also sell all.of my Beyerdynamic. I.kept the soulbyrds because they are so.flat that i can sleep.with them :)

Why u sell.the 600 ? Its good to have all the line.

I am not a fan. And I have bought them twice this year! Great with tubes, but I find them kind of boring with other amps.

At least as compared to the HD660's, which I have been wearing for days.

Am I correct in assuming the 660s is the brightest of the 600 series?
I haven't heard the IFI but it gets great reviews. But don't necessarily be swayed by balanced. I have a couple of devices that output balanced, some days I feel I can tell a difference, other days I can't. It can be very subjective. There's something about the K5 that makes me need to try it. If I was buying either right now, I'd personally get the K5 (for the looks only).
I really like my

I think the 600 is brighter

To me, the HD600 sounded the brightest/shoutiest of the series.

I also dont use hd600, i just use 650 for warm slow forgiving character and for everything else 660s and Sundara.
I guess u dont collect them ? :)

Yeahp i agree on that , HD600 are the brightest/ shoutiest of the series....

Something that gets me confused on some tracks is that some times HD650 VS HD660s the HD650 get more shoutiest . But surely brightest to me its HD600 >HD660>HD650. but overall all the HD 6 series are not bright headphones if u compare them with some Beyers or Focal listen etch etch but they are more bright compared to something like Koss 30i .

People sometimes wrongly associate fatigue only with presence and higher frequencies.
Ear is very sensitive at the high mids range 2-4kHz where the 650 is boosted and the 660S is subdued.
This is why there are a lot of users that complain of the 650 being shouty and fatiguing , believe it or not.

I have done way too much collecting. I am now in sell mode. Last set to sell is the MassDrop Edition XX's and an old set of Bose.

I was up to ten sets and it was just stupid.
Having said that, there are still other sets I want.

I have got to start being pickier.

Our ear shapes and ear canals are all different though, so no one is similarly sensitive to every frequency. That's how it's possible for some people to hear an HD800S as perfectly neutral, while for many/most people it just sounds (too) bright. And 6x0's always sound their brightest with fresh pads, which is also something to remember.

Hi may be this question has already been answer but I don't feel up to read 455 pages (sorry).

Is there any sound difference between first and second generations of 660s ?

Is there any confrort difference between first and second generations of 660s ?

Has someone found a great cable for the 660s (copper theorically)

Thanx

Cheers

Ps. Like i said yes there is difference on balanced only if u need more power and the dac cant give on SE or it use different better Circuit for balance thats another story.

Balanced circuits also have lower noise floor if they're designed well :)

True.

However, that's a solution in search of a home within the current market.

Moderately priced, well-designed single ended amps have such low noise and distortion that it is arguably inaudible.

But an amp with a not balanced door (as the K5 pro) could be used with a balanced cable with an adaptor or its non sense? Sorry in advance for the stupid question

Yeah I use only HD660s at the moment. I have also the HD 598SE but I always used them with a proper mobo DAC and never with an amp. So I recently jumped in this world buying the HD 660s
