Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Goodness the 660s is so good w classical music. I prefer the 600 for rock where vocals and guitars take center stage. But w Beethoven which is more demanding in terms of higher volume to get full sound, the 660s w it’s lower power demand does the trick. I get fuller sound on lower volume than w the 600. The wider stage, precise imaging and slightly quicker attack/decay don’t hurt either where there’s more than a few instruments all getting busy at once to account for.

So, New Zealand post has lost my parcel containing the WA6SE amp. It was tracked and some how it’s gone missing after it reached their sorting facility. I have been offered a refund of the shipping costs and the declared value of the amp. But I bought the amp with some nice valves...

So looking for a cheap amp to power the HD660S for a month or two under $500. Would prefer a hybrid. Any suggestions?

Very sorry for your adventure with the amplifier , I hope that you get fully refunded.

The Schiit Vali 2+ is a great hybrid for the 660S.
I like it very much and you can do some cheap tube rolling to have a slightly different results.

I was playing today with some ready profiles on Wavelet app Android... On HD600 650 660s and Sundara.
Is it me or HD 6 series react to eq very good ?
Ready Profiles give some db on sub bass and i get no distortion or clipping on normal volume .

If I already have the 58X and HD6XX is it even worth it to check out the 660S?

I got rid of my HD58X and HD6XX after getting the HD660S. To me, HD660S is more similar to HD58X than HD6XX.

Yes that is what I have heard. But how much "better" is the 660S over the 58X?

I dont think it worthy. HD58X is similar to hd660s, they share a same energy transducer techniques. Of course they are not the same, but consider the cost of them, dont bought both of them.

In my opinion, for HD600, 650, 660s, one is enough. But if you are a new ethusiast in Hifi, buy HD660s! It has better build quality, a 4.4 balanced cable, easier to drive, better detail, better bass.
