Any thoughts about which is a superior cable to upgrade with: Moon Audio Silver Dragon vs. SAA Equinox, or any (less expensive) recommendations? Thanks

Toxic Cables? Frank is super busy I think... so you might have to wait. I've seen others recommend BTG cables and in a brief email correspondence with me Brian quoted a very fair price.

Hey guys, any suggestions for amps to pair with the HD650's that are better than the O2 below $400?

Though I have not tried it myself, I'm willing to bet someone will point you in the direction of the Asgard 2.

EDIT: Do you have a DAC or are you just feeding straight from your macbook? If so, I'd recommend the Bifrost... it will likely be a bigger jump in sound quality.

Audio GD-NFB-11.32 sounds good with the HD650s.

Bottlehead Crack

Yep, Bottlehead Crack (with or without Speedball) or the Schiit Valhalla.  Basically an OTL design.

New-The A2 is REALLY hard to beat at $250 and I've paired it with the 650 and it's a good pairing.

Used-lyr goes for about $350 on the used market here and is a great amp. If you could get one with some decent tubes at this price it would be compelling.

gL!!

Vintage receiver or integrated. Pioneer is my preference (see earlier posts)

i can also recommend the little dot mk3 which works well with the HD650!but it needs some burn in time (around 100hrs) and be sure to buy from david at little dot.

after owning some beyerdynamic dt770~dt990 headphones, I really came to appreciate the smoothness the vocals on the hd650. However I it sounds a bit muddy but thats probably the amps fault.

Although I don't use eq, removing just a bit of the 100 Hz energy helps if you find it a bit muddy.  No more than 3 dB I would say.

That, or purchasing Audeze headphones.

(Just kidding about Audeze, even though their bass is wonderful but the HD650 are wonderful headphones too.)

i might be retiring my hd650 soon. i now have the mighty T1. I have to collect it tomorrow. anyone on here have both and think they complement each other? it would be a shame to wave goodbye to a years friendship.
