I'd buy the HD650 in a heartbeat if I could find them at a $350 price point in the US.

Check Sennheiser's web site next Black Friday.

+1 if you can wait it out another 10 months, they may do a crazy deal again. Just this past Black Friday, I got a brand new HD 650 from SennheiserUSA.com for $340 with a $50 iTunes gift card. After I sold the gift card, it ended up at $290 for a brand new HD 650.

Best $290 I've ever spent on this hobby.

Edit: Also check the Deals Thread here. That's how I got mine dirt cheap. Right now people are talking about a Razordog deal here it's $50 to $100 off any headphone over $250...may bring those HD 650's down to the price you want...

Yeah, the deals thread is awesome.

I got my brand new HD650s from Amazon.fr delivered to Australia for $285 back in December 2012. Totes loving them. I was incredibly happy with that price since normally here in Australia, everything is extremely more expensive than in the States!

The HD650's are relatively cheap here in the Czech Republic, if I convert the price from Czech Koruna to USD, they're like $350 new on one of the most "famous" headphone selling site, on other e-shops they're like $370 - $400. I got mine for an equivalent of $370 four and a half years ago :) However, the HD600 are only like 8 to 12% less here.

I need your help guys. I think my headphones are broken. A couple of days ago I noticed some change in my phones while listening to music(Batman Begins) and the sound came out flat, basically no bass. Now, I want to know how would I now for sure that there is something wrong with my headphones? I suspect maybe my little brother used them without my permission and might had taken the volume all the way up. Because the change is somewhat subtle or maybe I'm just crazy. Is there some program or something to do a diagnostic for headphones?

Check to make sure the cable is plugged in all the way.

Personally, I think Black Friday will be your next best chance to get $350, and even then, I'm not sure. www.razordogaudio.com has them for $399 shipped after code RAZORDOG100. I don't think that will be able to be beaten for any time soon...

I really like Brian at this site. Good guy and always quick to respond...very helpful.

hows the earcups for big ears?
does it touch the drivers after some use ?
honest answer please

The cups do work well for big ears. I've had mine for six months and the pads have compressed slightly and still no touching.

Hey guys, I use my pair of HD650's for monitoring when I can't use speakers. I had a bit of an accident and the headphones are fine but the plastic lock that keeps the right cup from coming off the head band flew off and I can't find it. I asked sennheiser and they don't sell replacements, anyone know where else I could get one if possible?

Congratulations?  Wow, 5,000 posts and he became a member in 2012....does he do anything other than post on this forum, lol?  I've been a member since 2006 and have less than 800 posts, and I think i've spent way too much time on this site.

BTW, I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the differences between hd580 and hd650 in terms of resolution, detail, and overall musicality.  I listen to mainly Classical with a little Jazz, Bluegrass, and folk - probably 80/20.  Liking my hd580 with Soloist but think I could do better with hd650.

^^ First of all, to answer your question I think that you'd better served with the hd600 given your genre preferences. And it will cost you less.

Secondly, I devoted a lot of time to the he400 thread and have worked with several of "the boys" there to help bring that fine hp to the masses. It is a lot of post though.

I guess that I should get a life though. Then this should be my last post then. Hit 5k and go out with a bang.

BTW, if you do the math, you posted on average 13 posts a day!

Do you have experience with he500 and how they sound with classical symphonic vs hd600 or hd650?
How much difference is there between hd580 and hd600.  They have the exact same drivers and I think they're matched a little better.  Anyone heard a difference?  BTW, I have the hd600 grills.

There's nothing wrong with being devoted to a hobby if it doesn't impair your work or home life. Keep on truckin', Matt.

I would say that the HD580 and HD600 have a relatively neutral frequency response that is true to the source (if they are amped properly). The HD650 isn't more colored, to my ears, but more refined, with a better lower-midrange presence and better bass impact.

The HD650 is incredible with classical.

^^ Yes, it would be a close call between the hd600 and he500. They both do well with that genre. The he500 will be better with treble extension, attach and decay of notes. But it will cost more, weight more and need a more serious amp to sound it's best. Also the sound stage is a bit better than the hd600.

The hd600 will have a nice balance, have a "smoother" presentation, cost less and is much more comfortable.
