Just realized mine aren't even Orange Globes, they are Orange PQs. Guess I'll see how they sound...

Edit: After reading around it seems like they might be the same tubes, just with different printing on them. Can't wait to try em out.

so I was listening to proxima centauri- ATDI and every time I expected treble I followed with a painful face but when it came I realized it wasn't there the painful harsh treble that my q701 produced compared to the hd650's...

So that's something to think about, is there a list/database of NOS tubes (model) or is it something that i just have to search for individually?
Frankly those numbers and letters mean absolutely nothing to me right now...Do they mean anything? Or just some model name the manufacturer decided to use

The numbers do mean something (ECC88 --> E = 6.3 volts original was wrong but can safely say the European designation C indicates a triode hence dual triode tubes are given the CC designation [ie ECC88], 6DJ8 --> 6 = 6.3 volts), but the same tube can have many different names (6DJ8 = 6922 = ECC88 and more).  You generally don't really need to know what they mean; however, before you purchase a tube amp, it would be wise know which tubes that amp will use and all the compatible variants.

The Schiit Lyr uses the 6DJ8 and its compatible variants.  That is a widely available tube, and while the NOS market can get very pricey for the ultra premium variations, there are still plenty of reasonably priced NOS tubes out there and some very good current production tubes.

Okay, some guys convinced me to get into Anime, and it's great! But that's not the point. The point is while watching the show, sometimes I took off the Headphones because I thought someone was coming (Anime's a little gruesome), because of the great soundstaging, no not amazing, but still really good!

I don't even want to know what kind of anime you're watching...
Just Code Geass, nothing too bad, not like coughHentaicough or anything, I just got into it today.

I do not think that is correct.  What about ECC83 (12AX7 ---> 12V heater), ECC82 (12AU7) etc.  E88CC and ECC88 have differences.  Yes, they can replaced each other but it depends on the circuit.  The 6DJ8 can draw 365mA (at 1.8W), while 6922 draws 300 mA(1.5W).   The difference is important when calculating the total current draw for the filament supply, and probably safe to say that a 6922 can always swap for a 6DJ8 but not always the other way around.  E88CC is the European designation for American 6922 and ECC88 is for 6DJ8.

Yes, you are correct, and I've partially edited my original post.  That being said, the important thing is to check the specifications for each individual amp, and (if you're not going to do any calculations yourself) make sure not to stray outside of the manufacturers accepted substitutes.  More often than not, hifi manufacturers will not place high demands on their tubes (with some notable exceptions - Audible Illusions preamps come to mind), so very rarely will the 6DJ8 and 6922 not be interchangeable.  Guitar applications are a different story altogether.

Anyway, I need to remember not to post when I'm preoccupied.  Regardless, thanks for the correction.

Anime is like anything else really. There are all types. Something thought provoking like Steins;Gate, drama/thriller like Death Note, Action/Sci-fi like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Comedy/drama/romance like Nana... there are so many gems out there...
