Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

True, if only we had a Drop in Europe, it would have saved me 130 euro.
But to be honest, I find the combination of grey and black of the HD650 better looking than the blue/black of the HD6xxs

Though I have the HD6XX and quite like the paintjob, I am most partial to the HD660S.

I have pretty sharp eyesight, though I keep the lights low at my desk. Most of the time the midnight blue just looks like black to me.

End of the day, buy which ever variant you like most as they are all excellent. That's my impression, anyway. They have the staying power they do for a reason!

To pair with the HD650, is there any pre-assembled tube amp better than the Little Dot MKIII SE (balanced) for ~550€?

You could buy a already assembled bottlehead crack. They’re on the used market reasonably often.

I can already assume it's gonna make them sound super bass heavy and much more veiled.

I was prepared to have to stretch out the headband on my HD 6XX but turns out it was perfectly comfortable out of the box for me. Anyone else?

I have a pretty big head too, with my thick skull and all, heh. My baseball cap size is 7 3/4. Maybe my head is longer than it is wide?

...I fear I might have taken this thread in an inappropriate direction.

Bigheads unite! I'm the same way. My niece once said, "why is your head so long?!" (<< laughing, but also crying) Funny in retrospect, but, man, that stung in the moment!

Normally my teeth don't look so sharp, I swear.

The HD 650 are also comfy for me.

Same. Fit me perfectly out of the box and I've worn it all day countless times with no discomfort.

Hey there fellow human. It is perfectly normal to find heads in all shapes and sizes. Like that typical French family for example.

Really nothing alien or suspicious.

Man, you are paying a lot more than you should. Little Dot's new website's price is a lot cheaper than that. Personally, I think MK III SE is hard to beat at a budget balanced amp, but I've heard Xduoo's TA-30 is pretty amazing as well, however, if you already have the DAC, go with Little Dot MK III SE

I think they really like Class-A solid state or tube OTL amps. I discovered the HD600 really sings with the AT-HA5000 (or at least the clone of it) that I have. This kind of amp brings out the lower end, and gives it the dynamics to breath.

fitted mine with Yaxi Stpad2 with my 3d printed adapter, and i really like what i hear. :) As you can see, the insides is made of 2 material, alcantara type on the backside and protein leather on front. Bass is tighter while retaining the clarity of the mids. I once tried the newphantasia leather ones and immediately took them off as everything just became muddy and boomy.

With this setup, i also find it more comfortable than the stock velour btw. So you guys might want to try this in case you want to try out new pads.

@navydragon Looks good. Did you have a hard time getting the Yaxi pads on? It took me a lot of pushing to get them to stay, maybe 20x as much as with the normal pads. I don't mean force, I mean just fiddling with it. One end would stay put it, the rest would pop out.

Do you have a .stl or thingverse link for the adapter?
