Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

  Really sorry for the confusion

I meant to say "neutral" sound signature and from my research the HD 650'S would be the best for what I want in my price range

If you have a chance, it is good to have them auditioned first (HD 650, K701, and T1) , for me I'm very pleased with HD 650

I'm loving my 650s at the minute! The 800s are collecting dust, I go through phases with each but considering the price difference the 650s are just outstanding! My perfect headphone would be the HD800 with the Tone and balance of the 650.

Maybe it would be Sennheiser HD 1000 sound sig, I'll definitely upgrade if there is one like that

I'm currently running the 800s and 650s balanced with the HDVD800 and It sounds superb . I have no desire to upgrade anything now . Previous amps that didn't satisfy me include burson ha160ds, fiio eko9 and v200. I have kept the O2 because I think it's an amazing little amp. The HDVD800 has the clean , accurate , detailed sound of the O2 with a slight bit of extra bass weight due to the higher output impedance, in my opinion it also adds a slight bit of presence in the mids which is more noticeable using the 800s. I think of the O2 as a very versatile reference amp that can run almost any headphone very well but the HDVD800 is designed with the 300ohm senns in mind and the result is perfect. It also looks amazing and it has an optical input that I use with my ps4 which the O2 couldn't do .

I've bought and sold about everything over the past five years. All the hifiman hp's...he4, 400, 500. Also lcd2, maddog, alpha dog just to name a few. There remains only one hp among the dozens upon dozens that I simply can not bring myself to sell.

So I have owned the HD650 for a few days now.  Currently have about 20 Hours of Burn in.  Just running through my FiiO E07K.

I must say these are very impressive.  Amazing how little fatigue they have.  I can listen to them for hours in total comfort.

Kind of ironic that's also the one you were apprehensive about getting for a long time.............If my failing memory serves me right :)

Yes, hd 650 plus odac is a good fit for that kind of music.

Your memory is exactly right. My reservation came from reports/impressions from members here saying that the 650 was too veiled and had no sub bass. Just goes to show that we all hear differently.

I've been listening to my 650 with my new HiFi-M8 today.  I must say, this is my best pairing yet with these phones.  I would love to A/B this "portable" option against the many budget options touted in this thread.  I have a feeling this little beauty will hang well with all of them....

The HD650s are great but it's time to try a pair of Beyerdynamic T1, they have everything that the HD650s don’t have, IMO.

"very neutral sound signature"

I think the AKG K701 and Beyer DT880 are way on the bright side of neutral, while the HD650 is more natural sounding. To each his own.

Edit: Although I must say, the most neutral headphone I've heard (and I know many will argue with me on this) is the HD800. Even against the T1 and HE500.
